[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?

[A]: I started playing Super Mario as a kid and fell in love with video games. The idea of being in control of something like a cartoon or movie was intriguing to me, like a ‘create your own adventure’ for my imagination.

[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?

[A]: I preordered the game because it looked unique, and I have always loved the pirate theme. Over the years I have met some amazing content creators and players on the seas that have solidified my love for the game and the community.

[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?

[A]: For the longest time I was a store manager at a computer and cellphone repair shop and streaming was always a hobby of mine. I have always wanted to do something to spread love and positivity and I saw creating content as that outlet. But if you told me four years ago that I’d be here today, I wouldn't believe you. My store was closing and my community mentioned I should give it a go and try to stream full-time – I’m so glad I did and I will always be super-thankful for them (Family of Hope). Putting smiles on other people’s faces makes my day, and to be able to do it as a full-time job is a dream come true.

[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?

[A]: I just play the games that I find fun and gauge the community’s reaction to them. I started creating content with Rocket League, where I was able to play and have fun with the community at the same time. I find that games like Rocket League and Sea of Thieves give me the opportunity to play along with my friends and engage with my community in the same way. That is not easy to achieve with most games, in my opinion.

[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?

[A]: I started streaming and creating content while I had a full-time job as a laptop and cellphone repair technician. So lack of sleep was always there, but I tried not to show it. There were times when I had to move rooms to a basement with no AC in 100-degree Fahrenheit Texas weather. I was truly a sweaty gamer back in the beginning.

Besides that, I have always tried to make sure to do the best I can for my community and as a human I do doubt myself sometimes, but the community is always right there to raise the positive vibes every time I go live.

[Q]: What different channels do you have?

[A]: I stream every day on Twitch and post weekly on YouTube. I have a Twitter and a Discord server where most of the community gets together to play.

[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?

[A]: Besides getting to be a Sea of Thieves Partner, my most memorable moment was finding the Shrouded Ghost. I was actually away from my computer whilst playing with Zahfer, Emmysaurus and Thunder, when I heard shrieks of joy. I got back just in time to fight it and the entire battle had my heart racing. It’s always when you least expect something like that to happen, and it didn't disappoint one bit!

THE SHROUDED GHOST IS REAL! (Sea of Thieves)

Duration 8:40

[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?

[A]: I love the PvP and the naval combat is one of a kind, and the graphics in this game mean I can just sit on an island and enjoy the sunset! But the players are by far my favorite thing about the game now. Every server is a unique experience and meeting other pirates on the seas is always a good time. As for the future, all I can hope for is to continue meeting amazing people and creating new adventures.

[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?

[A]: For Sea of Thieves, getting the Shrouded and all the PvP Commendations has been a huge accomplishment. I do wish to get all Commendations eventually. Meeting a ton of Sea of Thieves content creators, getting to sail with them and making a ton of close friends has definitely been a highlight too. In Rocket League, I was able to climb to a high enough rank to play with a handful of pros like Jstn, GarrettG, Lethamyr, etc. It just goes to show no matter how much you think you aren’t good enough, if you keep pushing you will go further than you ever expected. In the same way, I never thought I would be able to make a career out of gaming, but here I am, and I am so proud that I kept grinding for what I believed.

[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?

[A]: A lot of people think it means I am the ‘Streamer of the United States’, but I was literally looking for a handle back when I played Call of Duty and the name Sotus sounded unique enough that I made it my identity. There really is no hidden meaning behind it.

[Q]: What do you like to get up to when you’re not streaming?

[A]: I have a 16-year-old son that I love more than the world. He is my rock, so when I am not with my community, I am with him. We do some gaming together and watch movies.

[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?

[A]: Consistency is key. Even if there aren't many people at first, practice engaging the community to build one. Create from the heart and let everything else fall into place.

[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?

[A]: Do not focus too much on the numbers. Forcing content can be a slippery slope. Believe in yourself and what you are going to accomplish without having to live up to the standards of someone else.

[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?

[A]: I used to be a street racer for fun before my content creation days. For any gearheads out there, I had a 1995 Acura Integra turbo-charged with 7lbs of boost. Loved that little thing. Almost as fast as a Brig with full side-wind!
