Creator Spotlight – FluffyEdge
We’re all about giving a share of the Spotlight to some smaller creators, to help the community discover and support these hidden gems. As part of this we’d like to introduce you to another member of our wonderful Community Stream Team! In this edition we’re talking to FluffyEdge – with a shout out to Captain Tigerpants, of course…

[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?
[A]: As a kid I’d played on a friend’s console a couple of times, but the first time I had my own console was as a teenager on a second-hand Mattel Aquarius. It was very old but fun! It came with three cartridge games – Tron: Deadly Discs, Astrosmash and Night Stalker. I think Astrosmash was my favourite!
When I started working, I got a PlayStation and I’ve been hooked ever since. One of my first online gaming experiences was Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 with my wonderful other half LethalQuack and our buddy IntenseJedi – it was SO much fun and will always hold a special place in my heart!
[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?
[A]: LethalQuack was looking for a new game we could both play together and as a trio with our friend Jedi, and came across Sea of Thieves. He bought me a copy on 31st March 2018, and we set sail! I remember being blown away by the visuals and how stunningly realistic the water was. The Skelly Ships were terrifying, and the skellies were excellent snipers!
We played for a couple of months, then got sidetracked by another game, but jumped back in for the first Anniversary Update. I’ve been in love with it ever since! It’s enabled me to have so many adventures and meet so many fabulous people. I have some amazing IRL friends due to Sea of Thieves and that is very special to me.
FluffyEdge fell in love with the game and has made fast friends both on the seas and off.
[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?
[A]: I started content creating on Instagram initially, documenting my Sea of Thieves adventures and sharing photos I’d taken in-game – I remember all my early shots still had the HUD on, as I didn’t realise you could turn it off!
Then during the Covid lockdowns, I’d been furloughed then made redundant and was in the process of retraining to change career. While I was off work, I’d seen so many reports of people fighting loneliness and depression and I thought that maybe if my ‘glass half full’ personality could brighten just one person’s day then I had to give it a go. Quack was super supportive and on 29th September 2020 I hit ‘Go Live’ on Twitch.
That November I got raided by BoxyFresh and consequently hit Twitch Affiliate the day after, then in February 2021, I bumped into a pirate whose voice was instantly recognisable as the person I’d spent many hours watching on Twitch, the lovely Beardageddon! I was SO starstruck and fangirling that he was on my ship. To top off the occasion he raided over to me, I was so stunned!
From raids to chance meetings, any journey could be as magical as the one to the Shores of Gold!
[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?
[A]: When I first started, I’d plan out what I was going to do on each stream because it helped with my nerves and my naturally introvert nature, but the seas rarely go to plan, so now I tend to see what the horizon brings. Whatever I’m doing, Captain Tigerpants is always by my side!
Captain Tigerpants is my in-game cat Captain. We had bumped into each other back in September 2019 and I think he decided he quite liked my work ethic, so he hired me as his crewmate. We’ve been sailing the seas ever since and he’s a big part of my content. I love cats (and dogs) but I have a bunch of allergies so I can’t have real pets. Though the Captain is technically my boss, he’s good for a cuddle and a big fur ruffle too.
Tigerpants is the finest Captain on the seas and a legend in his own right. He’s a strong fighter and a fussy eater, he will always kick off if you’ve not kept up with his ever-changing dietary requirements (just like a real cat!). He has a backstory, Fleet, Guild (Tigerpants Legends), songs and his own plushie, thanks to some skilled sewing from my Mum to make his Bone Crusher Outfit! He’s my virtual fur-baby, just don’t tell him that!
[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?
[A]: I am an ideas person and always struggle to find time for them all, so only a few get completed! I was blessed to have been able to do content creation full-time between 2020 and 2022 as my redundancy covered bills etc., but since I’ve returned to full-time work, I’ve found it much harder to keep content creation consistent. I’ve made a few changes recently and hope that going forward it’ll be a bit easier.
[Q]: What different channels do you have?
[A]: I’m a Twitch main but try to post regular content to my other channels: YouTube which is mainly Shorts and music videos that Quack and I have created, where I sing about our adventures; Instagram, where it all started; Twitter/X; TikTok; and recently Bluesky.
It’s only right that FluffyEdge takes her trusty four-legged companions into adventure alongside her.
[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?
[A]: There’ve been so many! The Orb Raid of 2021 was an incredible moment for me. I was just chilling in my tiny corner of the internet and then suddenly BOOM! I was so stunned, I remember coming off stream and just excitedly dancing and jumping around, I couldn’t believe it!
First time in the Athena Hideout after making Pirate Legend, I spent ages taking pictures. Doing the Tall Tales – what an experience!
The Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life update was just *chef’s kiss*!
[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?
[A]: I never get tired of how beautiful it is! If I’d had a crazy day I used to just sail to a small island, sit by the water and unwind.
The influx of new players who are hungry for battle has definitely spiced up the seas, and Season 14’s new toys are SO much fun, so many possibilities! As for the future, the seas are always evolving and I’m hyped to see what Rare have up their sleeves next.
[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?
[A]: Not so much in gaming, but in streaming I feel I’ve accomplished so much. Every time someone says “you brightened my day” or “thanks for the stream” I feel like I’ve achieved something. Sharing some positive vibes and a cosy space is why I started doing this.
Now I’m working full-time, I’m able to send all my Twitch earnings to my chosen charity, SpecialEffect. It’s another small way I can make a difference.
Singing – I was terrified of putting my singing voice out there, but I was inspired by the Sunken Kingdom update and really wanted to do a take on ‘Part of Your World’, with a video. I was so nervous when I first sang, Quack had to hide round the corner! I’m gradually getting more confident, but it’s taking a while!
Doing backing vocals for BehavingBeardly’s ‘The Pirate Dream’ music video was an honour, that meant a lot!
Finally, being chosen for The Bilge Rats Stream Team was an incredible surprise, I’m truly grateful!
With so many memories to be made, FluffyEdge captures the moment whenever she can.
[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?
[A]: It’s been my gamertag since day one! I view a gamertag as the name you would choose for yourself (over your given name), so I wanted it to describe me and came across it by accident! I was making a bag, and the fabric was difficult. I threw it down in exasperation and said “this is so hard to work with, it has such a fluffy edge!” and out of frustration my gamertag was born. It’s a good fit, as most people who’ve met me would describe me as ‘fluffy’, and the ‘edge’ part stands for my determination, I can also be a little feisty if I need to!
[Q]: What do you like to get up to when you’re not streaming?
[A]: I love spending time with Quack and my friends. I play games a lot too, I’m loving Palia right now!
I enjoy watching TV for some escapism and to recharge my batteries. Sci-fi shows like Star Trek or Star Wars, basically if it’s got ‘Star’ in it, I’m there. I love fantasy shows, so if there are witches, fairies or magic, sign me up!
I do a lot of content-related stuff too, like checking out upcoming games, working on ideas and more recently I’m getting into cosplays.
If there’s any time left, I also like sewing, gardening and finding cute craft things to try. It depends on which hobby’s currently got a grip on me!
[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?
[A]: Be yourself and enjoy what you’re doing. Be the embodiment of the community you are looking to build.
Do some research. There’s a lot involved and it’s not just a case of clicking ‘Go Live’. If you want to stream AND make videos, be aware they require different skillsets, both are a lot to learn! Pick one to begin with and learn the other as you go.
It’s very easy to look at other people and compare your content or content output to others – this is a surefire way to get disheartened. Everyone has different time constraints and energy levels, you do you! You ARE enough. Your community is there for you, no one else.
With so many hobbies, we’re not sure how FluffyEdge has time to relax and find some downtime!
[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?
[A]: Don’t sweat the numbers. Numbers are great, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating a milestone or having a goal, but they fail to register the joy you bring to people or the reason why someone loves watching you. It’s about your community, your people, not the numbers.
[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?
[A]: I am a tea fiend and have a double cupboard devoted to tea in my kitchen!
And so ends another Creator Spotlight. Thank you so much to FluffyEdge for taking the time to talk to us. Check out her channels to follow whatever adventures she and Captain Tigerpants will be getting up to next!
