Creator Spotlight - Pace22

We're kicking off Creator Spotlights to mark the launch of the Sea of Thieves Creator Crew!

In today’s Creator Spotlight is the fearsome Pace22, winner of our first Arena tournament (the Battle for LA) and part of the winning crew in the first Twitch Rivals event. His legendary Athena steals and Alliance takedowns have made him… well… legendary. We asked him some questions on his voyages across the Sea of Thieves so far, and what experiences those travels have brought him!

Interested in signing up to the Sea of Thieves Creator Crew? Find out more here.

[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?

[A]: I grew up with not a lot of kids in my area, so the gaming console was my best friend during the week.

[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?

[A]: I was partnered on an ocean PVP MMO game called ArcheAge, and since then anything PVP-related with the ocean has drawn my interest.

He waits at the helm for unsuspecting prey...

[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?

[A]: In any gaming community I joined, I normally became one of the natural leaders over time. I figured this would translate well to content creation and streaming, since I got along with many people so well.

[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?

[A]: I like to think outside the box (‘tuccing’ on ships) and am always looking for PVP content in any form.

[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?

[A]: Keeping regular hours and dedicating a large chunk of time to one game while generating fresh content is probably the biggest challenge, aside from the numerous technical difficulties that come from dealing with PC, internet etc.

[Q]: What different channels do you have?

[A]: Pace22 on Twitch and YouTube.

[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?

[A]: My two championships in both tournaments I’ve entered for SoT Arena have been outstanding. Outside of competitive play, stealing a Gilded Athena from a crew and then stealing a fourth Athena chest from their ally when they came to rescue them. Also finding and killing the Shrouded Ghost WHILE stealing three Athenas (another Gilded) on board an enemy ship (I officially beat the game here, no one will top this)!

[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?

[A]: The fact that no one is EVER safe, and you have to be alert at all times! Hopefully in future we’ll see expansion of players per server, with the potential of massive fleet alliance battles.

Swollington and his legendary Pace point!

[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?

[A]: As mentioned above, winning the only two official tournaments I’ve entered is pretty special.

[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?

[A]: Keep your community engaged, even if it’s one viewer. Make them feel at home and be a place they will tell their friends to come check out. Don’t spend too much time without talking unless you are in a very active gameplay scenario.

[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?

[A]: Do your best to not compare yourself to other streamers. Enjoy your content for what you can offer. Make sure you only give out what personal information you want to be known and shared in a public space. Protect yourself.

[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?

[A]: I get asked a lot, but I’m 6'6"!

That's all for today’s Creator Spotlight. Thank you to Pace22 for letting us focus on his life as both a creator and a Sea of Thieves fan! Now go hide all your Athena chests and check all the usual tuck locations…
