Im DONE with the game this stupid PVP System

  • I bought the game and want to play the Story BUT in every outpost are players who want to kill you... AND I DONT EVEN HAVE LOOT. You dont even have the Choice to play PVE why is there a Skull Flag for PVP Player and not a Heart Flag or something for PVE Players... We PVE should play PVP and Spawnkill all other PVP Player until only PVE Player are on one Server...

  • Welcome to the sea of thieves experience.
Sadly, weekends are often a little more hostile on here.
I know this can be a pain in the backside, but leave the game and start afresh on a new server.
Not all servers will be hostile.

  • @needsmokes ok ty i will try in the week then again :)

  • Sea of ship scuttlers.. Once you have died you can scuttle your ship from the ghost ship, you will respawn away from the crew that just killed you, if they continue to harass you then switch servers.. Happy sailing me friend

  • @capt-niteshade oh nice i dont even know that thanks :) yep the spawnkilled me all the time no chance 1v3

  • @marbossaxiii it wasn't always like that, Rare brought the feature to scuttle from the ghost ship in as an anti dote to spawn killers

  • Buys game advertised with open PvP features
Complains that the game has open PvP features
    seems legit

  • @marbossaxiii You should keep a weathered eye on the seas. If there are campers you should be able to locate their mermaid in the water, or an abandoned rowboat is also a giveaway. If there is already a ship at the outpost it's usually best to steer clear.

Also, there is a flag with a heart on it - it's the Offer Alliance flag. But not everyone will pay attention to or care necessarily about your goals or intentions. It's up to every sailor to be aware of their surroundings. This is an open world PvPvE game. They also don't know if you don't have any loot unless they check for themselves.

Also, if you're in need of a co-pirate to watch your back while you do these stories, my services are available.

Best thing to do is learn from the experience and be more careful in the future. Good luck out there, matey!

  • @marbossaxiii
i tell no to you , Sir...No , because , once again , you let others decide that you leave this game...You write that every Outpost has a camping crew and that is wrong...There are 8 or 9 Outposts but only six ships. There is always a chance to sell yer stuff...Look out for sails , circle around an Outpost first and keep an open eye to Mermaids , they betray the presence of other Pirates and if you encounter them ,then just sail away...And sail to another Outpost…

And never let a setback puts you off this game...Humans are strong , stay a little while longer and see how you will adapt to certain situations...A loss isn't a smudge , a loss is a lesson ...it teaches you where you went wrong and you will learn from it and don't make that misiake twice...

  • Ok, bye.

  • I have to chime in here and I completely agree. Now I don't mind PvP, and I don't mind dieing, but as part of this quest chain we have to speak SPECIFICALLY to Madame Olivia in Plunder Outpost, three separate times (three separate servers and over two days) me and a friend went there, no ship, looked fine, no mermaid, and there were campers literally hiding behind a bush ready to kill us when we handed in our loot.

Or on the occasion we had no loot and were literally doing the quest storyline, I typed 'look we don't want trouble we are simply trying to do the quest', he lets me hear the monologue, standing behind me at the order of souls, and the MOMENT she finishes talking, kills me... I literally had no valuable loot, this goes beyond clever PvP, it's griefing players... these PvPers are not stupid at all, they know that people need to come here during this peak time i.e. this anniversary quest... so they are waiting to ambush anyone and everyone...

Now I know it's a piratey thing to do, and I'm not saying killing people shouldn't be allowed, please don't misunderstand me. This is a PvP game I fully understand that. I do feel however that Rare should be helping people a little more who want to enjoy these kinds of quests. (Which are absolutely amazing, the storyline, being trapped in the trapped room, learning more about order of souls..)

For example, why can't I just continue this storyline at the order of souls at ANY outpost?! Me and my friend physically can not do that as it has to be this NPC... and this gives campers and PvPers such an easy opportunity to get the jump on people. It's all very well saying 'just look for the mermaid' but

    1. There isn't always a mermaid
    2. That doesn't solve the issue, you still don't know where the people are and they are often set up and waiting for you.

I know another solution is to change server if there are campers but the issue with this, I don't want to lose quest progress.

For anyone who is thinking 'well.. you should be able to outsmart them or continue eventually...' You are correct, and we have had tactics ourselves such as one of us jumping off the ship to hand in and continue the quest, or trying to gang up and kill the campers, which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. My issue is not the fact it is happening, campers have always existed and it's a smart tactic.

My issue is the frequency with which it happens during fun events such as these... which require a significant amount of time to complete... and how easy it is for your 1-2 hours of time, to be ruined in all of 5 minutes by campers. They don't even have to work to ruin your quest, literally kill you once, take the chest, and hide it, run away with it, or whatever else, and you have to do the entire thing all over again! And I've met campers at outposts far more often than not...

    Any suggestions?

    1. there is always a mermaid or a boat... ALWAYS
    2. it solves the issue that you know there is 1 or 4 people around.

    yes.
you know during events it happens often and frequently.
you know Tall Tale quests take a long time to complete
you know if there are campers (boat or mermaid, yes always)

if that's the case... don't go and show your treasure. Hide it first. Confront them, kill them before they kill you. If they kill you, your boat is nearby, respawn and try again, you kill them they respawn in another island with s fresh boat FAR ENOUGH away to give you time to pick up your treasure and hand it in.

you talk about outsmarting, yet you keep ramming your head against the same brick wall.

  • It’s a pirate game... suck it up I still like story but I fully understand this is a pirate game and will respect people’s pvp choices

  • You are making a serious assumption hahaha. We keep our treasure underboard and most of these people DON'T CARE if you have treasure, they'll kill you with or without it. Heck I've had people try to kill me when going to order of souls to pick up a quest, with no loot at all on my ship or my person.

And no, if they kill us even once, we're essentially screwed, they have PLENTY of time to jump onto our ship and take control. I'm normally in a 2 person group. We've been attacked by 3 people, and it wouldn't surprise me if groups of 4 have done it too. How on earth can 2 people ever hope to win against largers groups like these? If there are 3 people camping an outpost we have to get to, and we're only 2, what other option do we have? None. Unfortunately one group who camped us had their ship at the outpost too, we left to do some other voyaging, came back 10-15 minutes later, they were still there. So we braved it, and they were literally all on the shore and chased us the moment they saw us. Fighting commenced but 2 people are very unlikely to ever beat 3...

You miss the point completely. I am not debating the idea of PvP existing, or tactics in a PvP battle, PvP is a core part of SoT and it's fine. My problem is: why the hell should these quests be designed in such a way that it gives campers the advantage, because that is the reality at the moment. I've been on multiple servers where people are camping at the popular outposts as they know that is the ONLY outpost anniversary questers can go to. The idea of this game is to strike a balance between PvE and PvP, this isn't fortnite, this isn't overwatch, this game has a strong PvE component too and quests which are designed in this way give PvP players a huge advantage by giving them a free camping spot. Larger PvP groups 3/4 people can sail around these outposts or from what I've seen, most choose to camp on the island itself, meaning solo or 2 players don't really have anything they can do.

  • Before you know they do some vengeance fishing in arena xD

  • I remember the Outpost camping plague during the game's early days. It steadily dwindled before eventually re-surfacing when Marrow's Peak Outpost was opened.

Seems like this scourge has returned once more with the release of Tall Tales.

  • Are you the guy on the galleon that I gunpowder barreled and destroyed all the masts?
