Allow captaincy customization in Safer Seas

  • You should still have to earn and buy stuff in High Seas, but I really don't see why you shouldn't be able to have your named ship and interior customization is Safer Seas...

Just make it so that you can't make any captaincy progress in SS, but you can just equip stuff you've earned and bought in High Seas like trinkets, ship name plates, etc.

  • I don't think this would negatively affect anything, by the way. It's not like you'd get captaincy progress or anything. You'd just have your trinkets and a ship name plate in SS.

  • Want the cool stuff? Play High Seas.
    Very simple.

  • This one is tough for me to really nail down how I feel about it. Mainly because of my significant amount of experience as a player that only plays organically and in a defender style.

I do understand why people want it, I empathize with that

but as someone that has played through it all and has seen the environment improve so much I know that people struggle less on high seas now, I know how much more opportunity there is, how reduced the attacks are organically. I know that Captaincy is one of the best incentives to get people out of safer seas when they are ready, as the content is designed.

I know that I would end up supporting it without progress, I just don't think I would like it that much, at least for a little while.

Yeah no progress whatsoever with captaincy. You still need to earn that stuff and buy it in High Seas. But then if you get wrecked and want to cool down in SS you can still have your fully decorated ship instead of a watered down one.

I absolutely don't want you to be able to grind that stuff in SS. Because getting that stuff is insentive to play HS. I just think you should still have access to all earned cosmetics in SS.

I'm a most damage focused kind of person.

I see pve exploiting and extreme cheesing as truly damaging to this game and to the organic experience.

To me it's highly inconsistent to try to give safer seas a tougher time while so much wild nonsense goes on with high seas.

That's why if it ever does change I'll just support it. I'm far more interested in cleaning up high seas and not interested at all in making it worse for safer seas.

I've already talked/thought myself into supporting it just in a couple posts lol.

Hahaha you're good, fam. You made really good points. I honestly mostly play in high Seas now because things have calmed down a lot. But sometimes I still hop onto SS after a disaster, and I just wish I could keep all my decorations.

  • Come on, Rare, let me sail the FriendlyPartyBoat with all the bottles and tankards everywhere! 😂

  • Posted so many times before I even saved one of the moderators responses. So I could repost it when needed.

I don't think I need to repost it now...

Captaincy and the trappings that come with it need to remain a High Seas perk. As such this removes any possibility of you sailing your captaincy ship on the Safer Seas.
It risk vs reward. With less risk come less rewards, loot, Captaincy, Ship Customisations etc
