Fabulous Fortunes Await
Season Nine brings in a cavalcade of changes and improvements to the world of Sea of Thieves. With rebalanced World Events, enticing new treasure to claim and more Voyages to drive you onwards, there’s plenty to uncover in our latest update!
Chests of Fortune
New Chests of Fortune have been locked away in Fort of Fortune Vaults, ready for the taking! Cunning crews who claim them can expect hefty gold rewards, while progressing a Commendation to unlock the first Fates of Fortune ship set items for purchase.
Reaper’s Chest Changes
Reaper’s Chest and Reaper’s Bounties have evolved: now, even when you pick them up, a shining beacon will continue to give away their location. Successfully hand them in and you’re on course to start unlocking access to the Fates of Fortune weapon set!
Expanded Legend Voyages
New Voyages for Pirate Legends will enable these seasoned players to set out on a quest for the Skull of Destiny, a Ritual Skull housing all six Flames of Fate, offering a headstart when it comes to prising open the secrets of the Fort of the Damned…
Expanded Captain’s Voyages
New additions to the pool of Captain’s Voyages mean more varied adventures! This coincides with the expansion of every pirate’s personal Quest inventory to a maximum of 12, and the removal of daily Trading Company Voyage purchase limits.
World Changes
Whether you max out a Galleon or go it alone as a solo Slooper, you’ll find that World Events (including returning Ghost Fleets) are now better scaled to match the strength of your crew, ensuring you have a fighting chance against anything the Sea of Thieves throws at you.
Cashing-In Opportunities
No longer will the Sovereigns trade only with the Outpost Companies – they’ll now accept items for The Hunter’s Call, although direct delivery to Seaposts offers a boost to the price paid previously. Tridents of Dark Tides can now be sold to several Trading Companies too!
New Bait Crate
Have a fishing expedition in mind? You might want to pick up a Bait Crate from the Merchant Alliance or The Hunter’s Call to save having to spend time digging. There’s even a new bait radial menu to get you reeling in those catches as quickly as possible.
Seagulls and Sunken Loot
An increase in avian activity on the seas means that you can now locate loot from sunken enemy ships by the seagulls circling overhead. Gulls will also help you find loot from ships that sank in the Devil’s Shroud as it resurfaces in safer waters nearby.
Captain’s Logbook Events
Put the full story of your sailing session down on the page! A record of noteworthy events from your current venture across the waves, from other ships sighted to Sea Fort assaults, will now be captured in your Captain’s Logbook for posterity.

New Seasonal Rewards
A new Season means a brand new set of rewards, unlocked by climbing through 100 levels of Renown! Earn cosmetics, gold, Doubloons and even Ancient Coins as you rise through the ranks by living the pirate life.

Stay on the cutting edge of pirate style by visiting the Pirate Emporium! As new arrivals come in every month – ship liveries, weapons, pets, costumes, emotes and more – there’s plenty to pick up with your Ancient Coins.

Season Nine’s Plunder Pass celebrates the ethereal beauty of ocean life, offering the crystalline Sting Tide ship set (including Collector’s items) and the elegantly evolving Sting Tide Costume.
