Players Support Great Ormond Street Hospital With Charity Sails

Over $114,000 raised through Pirate Emporium purchases to help seriously ill children

The Sea of Thieves community continues to show its commitment to charitable causes! We at Rare are thrilled to announce that, through sales of the time-limited Sails of Hope via the Pirate Emporium, a total of $114,841.48 has been raised to help fund the crucial work of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).

The money raised from the Sails of Hope will help GOSH Charity support Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to give seriously ill children from across the UK the best chance in life. Your support could help fund research into pioneering new treatments for children, provide the most up-to-date medical equipment, fund support services for children and their families and support the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

GOSH is the UK’s largest centre of paediatric care, with the widest range of specialist health services for children from cardiac and neurosurgery to paediatric cancer services. GOSH has 63 different clinical specialities, providing care for thousands of children with the rarest and most complex conditions each year. It’s a truly great cause that we were overjoyed to be able to support through our Sails of Hope initiative.

Liz Tait, Director of Fundraising at GOSH Charity said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have raised the equivalent of over £80,000 from our partnership with Rare, who created a unique symbol that fits with the adventure and mystery of Sea of Thieves, whilst also reflecting the spirit of everything we do at GOSH Charity to help support seriously ill children. We’re so grateful to Rare, and to all our amazing supporters for using the Sails of Hope in their quest for adventure on the high seas. Their generosity in raising such a fantastic total will make a real difference to children from across the UK who are treated at GOSH.”

We’re so proud to see what Sea of Thieves pirates have accomplished with their contributions to GOSH Charity by buying and flying the Sails of Hope. To every single player who bought these special sails during their month of availability in the Pirate Emporium, all we can say is a great big thank you! Your generosity will help bring hope to children being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
