Navy vs pirates

  • Im in two minds about this idea due to the implications of balance and the game as a whole but i have a policy of posting suggestions no matter how 'out there' they seem as ot only takes 1 person to respond with an idea that makes it awesome.

    So i digress,

    Anyone play the MMO Pirate King Online?
    Its a japanese MMO that has ships in it but it basicslly forces players into a conflict. Join the navy and hunt pirates or be a pirate and fight back.

    Now lets say rare get the capabilities to increase ships in server without dropping performance. Would it be s good idea to enable a system wherr players can pledge allegiance to either a pirate brotherhood or a navy themed faction, or to stay independant.

    Faction members will visible to eachother and work together to fight the opposing. The reverse works the opposite, or you can opt to stay independant.

    No idea how this would be implemented so ive literally left this open for you guys

  • While an interesting idea, a big part of this game's charm is never truly knowing who's going to be friendly, be an enemy, or even appear friendly, but be an enemy in disguise. Ultimately, the SoT leaves this up to you to figure out.

  • Also it doesn’t fit into the lore of this game. You aren’t sailing normal seas. You’re in the shroud. Not many people get in or know how to. What you are describing doesn’t fit the game at all. If this was a naval warfare simulator it might fit but it’s not.
