it would be nice to change your boat size when docked at an outpost or something so you dont have to leave the game and load back in with a bigger ship. The same thing could be done in reverse where you had a full gallion crew and now its just you. It would be cool to go from a slope to gallion or a Gallion to slope with in the server/game.
Of course I think it should take time to do this or coast some gold to change ship size with in the same game or server. Perhaps a 5 minute wait for the ship change and maybe a 1,000 gold.

Whilst I know its something most of us would like to see on the hypothetical high seas, it's been said time and time again that at this point in time the ship ratio balance per server, the lag that would undoubtedly come as a result of changing ship and in order to keep things smooth visually - it's simply not feasible and by extension a priority to the Devs.
Pretty sure it was in a dev stream a while back or perhaps a Q+A, hell, maybe things have changed - you can always dream
