Cutlass issues since Shrouded Spoils?

  • Ever since the drop of Shrouded spoils, there's been an issue with changing to a different weapon after your sword dash is over. This, oddly enough, only happens on boats.

    If you try to sword dash and then switch to your other weapon quickly, it will switch back to the sword and keep bugging out until after a certain time. This basically makes swords useless nowadays, especially with the rise in "double-gunning."

    Please make sure swords feel smooth like they did the day of release! Sword dashing was super smooth back in the day, flowing through water was really smooth, and I feel like its gotten worse and worse with every update. The game is starting to feel like a bunch of unnecessary band-aids are added to fix other issues and in-turn they hurt the feel of the game.

    Arena is coming soon and the game is not ready for it... Not in its current state.

    I have not personally noticed this bug, but I agree that there is a certain amount of glitchy behavior that the game has taken on in the last 3 / 4 months of play that formerly did not exist.

    At launch the game engine was ultra fluid and now it has some inexcusable hickups that are not part of the X-box or PC platform, but failure to keep the engine optimized.

  • @swimplatypus7 Try sword dashing and then switching to your weapon right after the sword dash, it just doesn't switch.

    The client is forcing the switch and you see it happen, but the server doesn't allow you to switch weapons for some reason.

    It works fine on land, but boats seem to break it.

    Ill give it a go tomorrow. Ill try out some setups on my elite controller to see if I can get something working.

    Are you on the Xbox or a PC player? I know that the game's suppose to be the same, but that may not always be true.

  • You are not supposed to swap weapons quickly after a sword dash, missing your dash put you on a "tired" state and during said state you cannot peform any action, this has not changed since alpha. I will say that you can "glitch" the animation by getting a partial miss with the dash, which is hitting an object in the world instead of a player, which doesn't count as a hit, but you are not completely placed in the tired "state", allowing you to move your camera, swapping your weapon during this partial miss will show a glitched animation, but the system is mostly working as intended, you are not supposed to swap weapons while tired after a failed dash.

    Sword dashing or "sword surfing" has also not changed since alpha, so no clue what you are talking about this supposed worsening of the mechanic.
