Enhancing adventure in sea of thieves

  • Imagine a Sea of Thieves where the seas feel alive with roaming NPCs who patrol, react, and even fight strategically instead of sitting waiting to be killed on islands.
Sword combat is deeper and more tactical, with combos, parries, charged strikes, and environmental interactions that make every duel exciting for all players. Cursed swords add legendary flair, with effects like igniting skeletons, cursing enemies, or enhancing combat in lore-driven ways powerful but limited, keeping fights fair. NPC ships, like skeleton fleets or other vessels, could follow orders from legendary crews such as the Burning Blade, creating dynamic battles and emergent stories that give the world life and challenge. Veterans can mentor newcomers, teaching mechanics and strategies while earning rewards like Ancient Coins, gold, or unique titles, helping new players feel welcomed and part of the world. With a strong focus on lore and storytelling, heroes, villains, and legends naturally emerge, and every encounter across the seas becomes a memorable adventure.

We currently have skeleton ships that get aggro'd from a block and a half away, and you want to add more?

A sword that can apply fire, curses, etc.? It would make the other swords we've earned or purchased pointless, so I don't think they'd go for that idea. There's a reason why the sword left from the Burning Blade is shown on the map.

  • I’m talking about skeleton lords and ashen lords and the reason I talked about cursed swords is because that fits the sea of thieves lore perfectly. This game’s lore is great but the game lacks in naval NPCs.

  • game lacks in naval NPCs.

In the past the npc skeletons use to be a force to fear. But the newbie, unwilling to learn, unable to adapt players complain so hard. They nerf, nerf and nerf them so much. Solo players can sink them without firing a cannon ball.

Love to see some of the older crazy hunting Skelton ships that go to the lengths of the map to fight you. But PvP players don’t like them and low key players dislike being “attacked” while on land….

  • I wouldnt mind some more challenging naval but you often see complaints here about the difficulty of the easy skelly ships now so it would add a further gap. Would need some form of gatekeeping to limit it to either players based on level or somesuch or who have chosen to engage.
