Everyone is excited about the new event which means people are diving/server hopping to find them which is great, however what is not great is having these events despawn naturally when you trek across the map for them, i feel like having an opt in for these events saying "hey i want to go do that reaper fortress please dont despawn it" would be a nice touch, doesnt have to last forever but just allowing this to extend the time for a fort despawning naturally would be nice while you at least sail to it, its happened to me 4 times now and i have seen it happen to content creators as well, obviously its not needed if someone is currently working on it but ive seen so many with no one at them, if anyone else has a better suggestion feel free to put it down

Might be reason why some are not finding them. Server hopping and diving. Just stick with a serve and complete those other world events. Nobody is gonna contest so it take no time

Yea I've felt for a long time events should be marked on the map. We now have the ancient megs which granted only show with a hunters call emissary rank 5. But then we have the burning blade now too. The fort of the damned is a fixed location so seeing that cloud you know where it is and that a crew is there.
Not knowing how far away the event is if the wind is against you and you are looking at a 15 minute trip you might not even want to bother. I agree voting to do the event to keep it around longer would in theory be nice. But then trolls could use this to keep an unwanted event up indefinitely on a server so no one else can get access to the thing they actually want.
I think just having the knowledge of where the event is would allow us to decide if we should just server hop ourselves. This is an issue as old as the games release though. Well since forts became a rotating event anyway, I think they initially stayed up forever if not cleared but there was only the 1 type of fort and 3 possible locations.
@magus104 Im sure they could figure out a way to prevent abuse, maybe you can only do it within the first few minutes you join in a server and you can only do it once granting an additional X amount of time before it auto cancels because you opted in and didnt head to it within a reasonable amount of time, im sure theres even better ways to do this but it just something i wanted to point out regardless since im always open to new QOL changes
