Grief of Thieves: When the Wind Fell Silent A Community Parley for a Lost Guildmate

  • Dear community,
I am writing today with a heavy heart. Yesterday, we sadly lost a treasured member of our guild, Creepy C r a p s.
Striegarrrrrr was a passionate pirate on the seas of Sea of Thieves, a loyal friend, a valued companion and an anchor for many of us in our daily lives.
He was an immovable rock in the storm. He was also the morning breeze that made a new day blossom with his incredibly pure and sincere heart.
(He himself would find that sentence too cheesy.)
He made sure that at the end of the day, no matter how it started, it was always a good one with him at sea.
It will be dark for us for a long time and we all hope that the stars will guide our way and we won't get lost in grief.
It will be difficult, incredibly difficult, to find joy again in things that remind us so much of him.
He was a pirate captain through and through, who felt more at home at the sails, plugging holes and with his pirates than behind the captain's steering wheel.
You could always rely on him, even if you had gotten yourself into a hopeless situation.
He swam through the sea, past sharks, to protect you from getting to the ferryman.
But unfortunately we couldn't do that for him in this world.
He was particularly attached to his faithful companion monkey Nocturno Culto, with whom he had countless adventures on the waves of Sea of Thieves.
When he once forgot to take Nocturno out of the chest, he was so startled that we thought he had stubbed his foot. He spoke to it as if it were one of his children. The ones who have now lost their father.
He was a loving father and we often heard him teasing his wife and they both laughed. That also brought a smile to our faces.
We rarely had to hold back our laughter. Too many times we laughed out loud because he was simply the toughest leather strap when he cracked his jokes like a whip through our world and Sea of Thieves.
His humor is as dry as a landlubber, yet so wet with laughter that you had tears in your eyes with delight.
There are no words, no chants that can heal, except perhaps to share the grief, and so we wonder if there is a way to say goodbye to him with dignity in the game.
Perhaps through a communal memorial on a server, a small official in-game token, or simply by allowing us to create such an event.
Where we can bid him an honorable farewell or make a figurehead out of him, so that we can always have him with us on all the adventures we (don't) go on without him.
See or adopt his companion pet again so that we can take care of him and he doesn't have to stay in the chest forever.
If it were somehow possible, we would like him to be seen sitting on the railing as a silent ghost while his faithful companion Nocturno Culto roams the deck, should one of his guild ships be selected.
We are not interested in attention. It's about a place and a moment where we can say goodbye together.
Where he loved to be, on the waves of this game. If there is any way to make this wish come true, we would be incredibly grateful.
    sincerely Creepy C r a p s
