pvp compensation and matchamaking rework

  • pvp compensation- i think after the 2 or 3 weeks of not being able to play hg was crazy but people lost their streaks and flags or other things before it was officially announced on the discord or somewhere else that the hg is bugged so it would be good if RARE would give the players few levels or something, a lot of players are complaining that we didnt get anything..

Matchmaking rework - the pvp should be reworked in my opinion because a lot of players with smaller levels are facing a 100+ or 500+ or even gold curses, so i think it would be better to level 100 facing higher levels or like a few levels lower and new players facing the same players, the matchmaking would be longer to get in the fight but more fair

If matchmaking is taking too long, the game will match you up with others in the queue that match your parameters (solo/duo sloop, etc.) so you will get matched no matter what. If you keep getting matched with players that have more experience, it's because not enough players at your level are queued or are busy with matches of their own. Fighting against experienced players isn't a bad thing, it's the best learning tool for you.

  • Your “level” in hourglass doesn’t mean anything. Other than how long you grinded.

If you were to fight these same people, without hourglass help in the open sea. Just sail up on them…and fight. The results are the same.

  • @setshiiirr As for your first point - an announcement acknowledging the issues went out officially the day of the update, 3 hours after the servers went live.

Here you go once again saying factually untrue things just to up your post count and troll. Can the mods please do something about this guy? He's saying purposefully antagonistic extremely false things for 7 years.

Nobody that has been through 2000 levels of hourglass is the same player on the other side. You become a substantially better player.

Level is not a direct correlation to skill. But to say that levels don't mean anything is beyond absurdly false for people who play the mode as intended.

What isnt true? And it isnt about post count or troll. (think you need to learn difference on what a internet troll is) You dont have to believe anything I say, even if its true or not. But it makes more sense than most complaints. Dont like me, dont reply :)

Lvl 2000 hourglass player vs someone who never played before. I can tell you, gamers are quick to learn and they dont need a lvl to tell them so.
Also, if that were true...why is it people with a low level of say 50 can beat a person of 1500? Because maybe..that lvl 50 person is on a new account? and there main is 2000.

Correct. Level doesnt mean anything. Its a Grind level.
People can be high level, full curse outfits from just Piggy backing off another player. How do we knows? Ive encountered these said people. They have all the curses and max hourglass, but they cant PvP to save themself because the ones who helped them did all the work for them.

"Mode as Intended." Think you meant, tool.
and as Intended, Instant Pvp with like mined players. That it.

You want PvP, dont wanna sail around? Hourglass turned on, Dive and Booyeah! You got yourself a like minded player. The curses and rewards are just for something to play for, but once you get them what is left?

  • @burnbacon

What you are saying would be correct in some cases, but it doesn't mean it's true for everyone. It's a grind level, therefore guess what: if you are practicing something for hundreds or even thousands of hours, you gain experience. I mean we can talk about alt accounts but that's just stretching because that doesn't mean they don't have a high level main account, it IS a thing that a low experienced player(means they are probably low level) matches with someone they won't stand a chance against, because the game just simply doesn't have enough players in hourglass to have a proper skill based matchmaking system.

  • @burnbacon HG levels is not "direct" skill, but.
Hourglass Levels leads to hours played that usually leads to skill level. Sure It could be some players need more/less hours to reach certain level of Gameplay, but ALL of them have been developed something called muscle memory.

This is well and good but with the prevalence of hackers in the game being new accounts it would drastically ruin the experiences of the newer player base and dissuade them from continuing. Because all of the hackers would also be low leveled. (Most hackers don't get to pirate legend) I'm all for a matchmaking system but I don't think hourglass should take those resources away from story or content production.

Good idea, rocky road to get there.

They won't do anything about it. A certain few just wait for people to get upset at him and say something, then lock the thread or edit posts. It's super strange.

  • @grithkar They should do a casual hourglass, where anyone can participate, and a ranked hourglass, where you can only play if you're PL. Maybe the ranked season coincides with the actual adventure mode season, meaning it resets every 12 weeks or so. Ranked mode could have it's own plunder pass for players to grind as well.
Considering how different of a comp game HG can be vs a game like League, CS, Dota, Valorant, etc. the ranking can instead just be based off of wins. So, players won't go down in rankings if they lose a match, but they can only go forward if they win matches. This would have to be implemented IMO because in HG the two ships rarely will ever start off with the same supplies, or tools on their ships, which means you can't ever make it 100% fair, so to alleviate that, just do the ranked ladder based off of wins, as I mentioned. Then, the ones who want to play ranked can be matched around people closer to the same amount of wins for that season, and yes, it will reset in the next season, but will take into account previous season wins and faction levels. The wins per season to determine rank can solely be for season rewards and maybe titles.

  • You could have been defending.
    No compensation needed.
