Who was it hurting? If your taking this away then you need to put in a legit and convenient way to refill the ashen skull. It was really fun and very useful as a solo. Should have just kept it in like the sword lunge. A bug turned into a feature.
Why did they patch the skull refill?
They took it away because it was never intended since it is not supposed to be a weapon you keep and use, its supposed to be a loot item that can be weaponized for a limited time.
Sword lunge was kept since while not intended, it fit the unusual nature of the game how the devs designed it. Refilling something that was supposed to be limited by design from the start however doesnt exactly fit the same criteria as keeping the lunge.

@goldsmen Im sure the AI i was killing with it were very upset at this imbalance.
It is not just a weapon exclusive to use against ai. As a pvpve game it can be used against players just as well as skeletons.
@goldsmen But no one does because its an awful pvp weapon, asking to get 1 blundered. It was a primarily PvE tool.
It was primarily a PvE tool for you. You can't speak on behalf of the rest of the community.
The Ashen Winds Skull, Horn of Fair Winds and Skull of Siren Song were always supposed to be limited-use weapons. It's why they're rare. You want to use it again, you go find another one as intended for all players.

Im not sure what your talking about it being a bad pvp weapon. It does insane damage in pvp, you can kill some one in seconds and blind them at the same time! For a long time people just didnt use it since its value was based on how much you used it, but now that restriction is gone and the only reason not to use it as a weapon is commendations.
This thread is a pretty good example of why it's important to address exploits asap.
Too much slides and then the next thing we know people are duping items, getting a community event nerf'd, and flat out justifying cheating through exploits on the pve side as well as pvp.
Fixing stuff is not only a positive thing for the environment it's what people are always grumpily requesting that they do.
People finding all the exploits and then using them till they are patched isn't really a playstyle, it's just exploiting to exploit and to gain unintended advantages.
Slightly off-topic, but does anyone else regularly go to sword lunge off the boat towards an approaching island when you've got the knife equipped and just kinda PLOP! into the water next to the boat because it's so ingrained into your regular mobility that it's basically muscle memory...?
My crew members are starting to keep track of how often I do it to mock me... 😆😆
This thread is exactly what the mod who closed your other thread was saying. Ya'll use the "Sword lunge exploit" which is not an exploit and was discovered before launch as a way to try and make actual, real exploits seem less egregious than they are. They are designed as limited use, so they should be limited use.

For what ever reason a lot of people try to use the sword lunge as an argument for their favorite exploits, or if the exploit they use is getting patched, they demand that sword lunge get removed, when lunge is an accepted feature and not an exploit in any measure.
Make it so that you can feed firebombs to it (M2/LT) like you can feed pigs...5x firebombs = a full recharge.
Similarly with the Horn of Fair Winds...make it so you can recharge it with a Breath of the Sea. Though, first they'll need to make it so the Horn of Fair Winds is actually something you can get...
@sweetsandman This would be a cool way of going about it: instead of it just recharging due to an exploit, you legit need to feed it to recover its strength.
