Another tall tale suggestion: Cervantes tall tale based on the Soul Blade story

  • Soul blade developed a 3D fighting style that includes side dashing, just like Sea of Thieves. Making a tall tale surrounding Cervantes from the original Soul Blade/soul edge and the actual soul blade could be terrific.
Just that Rareware needs to partner with Namco, which is totally feasible.
The scenario could introduce an item that could serve as a way to engage into an advanced fighting mode with more fencing options, retaliation bonus after successful blocking and ways to fence the sword based on short and long presses of the attack button, and combos while dashing left, right, front, and fencing so that would make side slashes and front-dashing grand swings. Finally, sword dash, in that mode could be way less punishing in terms of recovery time.

The story of Cervantes in Soul blade was great. And the divide between him and the possession from the soul calibur was also epic. He's possessed by the sword, which makes him monstrous in the end. Quite epic.

  • Cervantes is a place, north of Perth, Western Australia, famous for a fairly unique place called the Pinnacles.

Never heard of Soul Blade, but if Sea of Thieves wanted a Pinnacles type place to visit, that might be worth it too?

Soul Blade, in later installments, was renamed Soulcalibur. It was also known as Soul Edge alongside Soul Blade, depending on localization, before the rebrand as Soulcalibur.
Cervantes was a pirate, and one of the first end-bosses of the games. A dude possessed by the malice in the sword.

That would be overly complicated for this game.
I also don't see either sword (Edge or Calibur) fitting into SoT's theme. Plus, the games were not all that big on piracy, other than Cervantes himself.

Soul Calibur depending on your localization.

I don't think there's enough Cervantes fans for this to really hit. Although... I do believe Namco/Bandai had the most recent rights to make a One Piece game lol

  • Only if I get a Voldo skin. Codpiece and all.

  • @smuntface Ya mate could have as well used Google and realized that it's a popular videogame and not a place in Spain or wherever you have dropped your finger on the spinning globe.

  • @thegingrprince Fair enough lol

LOL. Shade thrown. Sorry I think it's funny.
Cervantes is about 90mins drive from my house. Also not Spain. Thought you might just be interested.

I do agree the Sword mechanics could be improved on.

  • Send me a postal card when you're there!

The sword mechanics is only optional in my topic, while the Cervantes story in soul-edge was really bold. It would make a great 1-episode tall tale, only to reproduce the conditions which led cervantes to get possessed by the sword... Then liberated by mighty pirates!
