So let me get this straight Rare... the sails that have been in the game since the start of time... is what y'all are really focusing on?? Sails that literally ANYONE can get by putting the time like everyone else did. 8 MILLION gold RARE... 8 MILLION! No one and I mean absalutly no one would pay that much for the sails now. Instead of just adding more sails like the DA Sails.. or making it a twitch drop.. y'all decided to butcher them. great job Rare.. put your time on fixing sails that aparently are a "tactical advantage" instead of actually taking care of the hackers that are ruining the game. Since y'all decided to butcher the sails.. I think y'all should also refund the bare minimum of 4 million gold back to all the players that spent hours and days of their lives farming just to buy the most expensive sails in the game. I think that's fare and just the right thing to do. and I understand that not everyone has the time to grind 8 million for some sails.. hence the whole making it either CHEAPER or adding more like it or just making it a twitch drop. Rare, DA Sails is not a "tactical advantage".. you know what is? the hackers that are ruining the game.
Pay the players their gold back
I dunno why people bring up cheating over this kind of frustration.
One has nothing to do with the other and they have said multiple times that they adjusted resources to focus more on issues that popped up surrounding cheating, not less.
So many ways for even casual non-pvpers to make good gold now, and safer seas is a thing now. That 8 mill isn't what 8 mill used to be, even to players that play casually and aren't doing big hauls.
The Dark Adventurer set was designed with a high price point to reflect their status as a long term play goal and to show your prestige as a pirate who attained them. The Dark Adventurer is therefore priced far above any other set for this reason alone, and the price of the sails themselves is in-line with how we price individual ship items within all our sets.
One of the core design principles of the larger ships is that to be able to helm effectively you need to cooperate with your crew. The person that's on helm shouldn't have great visibility to be able to plot a course and navigate without either cooperation from their crew or raising the mid sail.
The shape of the Dark Adventurer sails and the advantage they ultimately provided was in no way part of the long-term goal for players and played no part in pricing considerations. While this visibility advantage will be removed in December, these sails continue to reflect that intended prestige goal for pirates.
There are no intentions to refund any purchases of the Dark Adventurer sails.
