I love grabbing player maps - always a great way to start a session.
I also have fun burying treasure and sharing the maps.
I think some tweaks to this system would be great:

When you bury a treasure and post the map, you should get half the value of what you buried when it is found. Similar to an alliance. Whoever digs it up can get full value if they turn it in.

There should be new trinkets and outfits that unlock based on the VALUE of what you have buried and shared to the map board.

You should be able to add ANY voyage you have in your radial: Treasure hunt you found from a message in a bottle. Riddle you found from a message in a bottle. Either of these you get from captains orders.
Just a few ideas to refresh a great system.
