Changes I Would Make to the Combat

  • So the combat in Sea of Thieves can be very intense, but I feel like some things are lacking something. So here's some changes I would make to the combat, both naval and hand to hand.

    1- This is the main reason I'm writing this. If you have a big pirate, big like the pirate of the YouTuber SMii7y, and you get shot out of a cannon and you hit the side of a ship, your pirate's head will stick out into the ship, and you have to alternate triggers or mouse buttons to get out, and when you get out, you leave a tier 2 or 4 hole, but while your stuck, no water will enter the boat and you can be killed. I just think it'll be funny seeing a whale of a pirate stuck in the side of a ship trying to get out, it would just be funny.

    2- Add a little crosshair dot for when you're holding a gun and you're not looking down its sight.

    3- Make shooting cannons and landing shots easier by making cannons shoot more straight, but it would still go down.

    4- This isn't really a change to the combat, but they should make it to where you should be able to change the color of guns, like you can change the green wood on the mercenary pistol to say blue, but you can't do this for every gun like weapons you get when you get Pirate Legend, the obsidian weapons, and weapons from the pirate emporium, but it would be for guns that have wood on them. Also we should be able to add gun smoke flare like how we get cannon flares.

    Bonus Tip: If you aren't fully healed and you sleep in a bed, over time you'll slowly regenerate health.

    3. NO, suggest looking at the aiming videos, ship movement affects trajectory.

    4. As long as they don't include black as a color, otherwise it is just a cheese to get obsidian

    2. Double gunning is already OP.
    3. Cannons are fine as is. Check out YouTube for some great tutorials.
    4. The games funding comes from cosmetics, so unless you are going to link this to that...

    Nope, p2w/p2l aspect since it costs money to change pirate without losing everything

    They specifically did not do this because of the time setting of the game and the minimal ui’s (grumbling about the 10 million popups we have nowadays)

    No, get better at cannoning, its a skill

    They wont do this since that would limit how they could drip feed us cosmetics outside emporium that 9/10 times are just recolors

    What about all the players who disliked having a Fat Pirate?

    What? More straight? Do you not understand how shooting cannons work?

  • I think Im glad we don't let the community control the game updates as much as some people say they want...

    1. As funny as it might be, it'd just get annoying for both parties involved after a while.

    2. No, the guns already provide as much of a crosshair as you need. Sniper scopes have the crack, blunderbuss does not need one at all, and the pistol skins 9/10 times are slim enough to let the user see the middle anyway while ADS. Crosshairs while not ADS is unnecessary as only the pistol could benefit from it, but I'd prefer hipfiring to not be the new meta with pistols. imo it isn't that hard to learn where the middle of the screen is anyway...

    3. No, there isn't that high of a skill cap in this game, but making impressive cannon shots harder to hit should be kept difficult and impressive.

    4. Rare won't do this as it removes the possibility of them adding reskins during updates.

    5. This is already a thing. I'd recommend testing and proof-checking before posting ideas.
