World Event Rotation

  • There's only 5x World Events (excluding the FoTD for this discussion) as it stands.

    1). Skeleton Fort
    2). Skeleton Fleet
    3). Ghost Fleet
    4). Ashen Winds
    5). Fort of Fortune

    Unfortunately, it seems like the RNG on them is a bit...disappointing. As an example, yesterday, I had these 5x World Events spawn in this order after each of them were completed:

    1). Ashen Winds
    2). Skeleton Fleet
    3). Ashen Winds
    4). Skeleton Fleet
    5). Skeleton Fort

    That seems silly...right? And that sort of repeating happens pretty regularly.

    What I'm proposing is that the 5th World Event is always a Fort of Fortune and that the other 4 events are all utilized in random order leading up to it. Meaning, there would be no repeats of events between a Fort of Fortune spawn (no matter if they are completed or despawn).

    This would prove to be rewarding for those that are staying on their server and eliminate some of the frustration of the RNG.

  • Well judging by logic of probability they are in random order. If you pick a number from 1,2,3,4,5. And you get lets say number 3. If truly random, number 3 can come up again. If number 3 is not available, you have 25% chance of getting 1,2,4,5. After which number 3 is back in the Rotation.

    That being said Fort of Fortune does seem the be the most Rare and Skeleton Fleet the most common one.

  • It's interesting that the fleet has been noticeably popping back up more now compared to years of pretty much only being 1 per session

    In my play style I'm doing 2 or 3 per session now.

    Maybe they are gathering some data about something unless it's unintended

    Right...it is RNG right now...but it seems to be RNG indefinitely with no guarantees.

    What I'm suggesting is...

    It would be RNG between 1,2,3, and 4....it picks 3

    Then it's RNG between 1,2, and 4...it picks 1

    Then it's RNG between 2, and 4...it picks 4

    Then it would be 2

    Then it would be a FoF.

    That makes more sense than the current RNG that could result in 2,4,2,3,4,1,2,3,2,3,5

  • I've seen the Ghost Fleet tornado event just sitting there a lot. One was up on a server I was sailing around on last night for over an hour. It's a redundant event and I think it was a bad idea to re-add it to the rotation.

  • @sweetsandman I know what you are saying and I was not disputing your suggestion, I think it would be nice if FoF would be guaranteed eventually. Would be even better if the loot was increased even more in FOF, so regardless of your emissary you would reach 5. So literally every single ship on the server would want a piece of it. It kind of has that effect now, but would be lovely if it lasted.

    Meh I think that event just needs a different mechanic to reset the despawn timer.

    Currently, just sailing anywhere that the music plays resets the despawn timer (I think).

    What it should be is...unless a ghost ship is vanquished, the despawn timer continues.

    Personally, I love the Ghost Fleet Event and am glad it's back. It's fantastic cannon practice and produces a tremendous amount of loot. It's also super fun to fight over while it's active. Probably the most fun event to contest in the game if you like naval chaos.

    My problem with it is it's the exact same as the Order of Souls voyage, except with loot for every company. It's the only event that overlaps completely with something that is 100% on demand already. Why does it even need to exist if it's the exact same?

    The OoS version is also pretty garbage at raising emissary, especially with how visible it is to everyone in the region. It needs to drop more skulls or give grade increases for defeating a captain ship.
