Have an Option to cancel matchmaking cooldown to defend

  • There is a 20 Minute cooldown between defends or when you win a battle. For some of these Amazing looking trinkets (class 100 in defending) it would take 200 winning defenses. that would be 33.5 hours of just waiting for 20 mins. 400 for both Servants of The Flame and Guardians of Fortune. 67 hours total of waiting.

An option to skip this cooldown and hop into a defense would be Amazing. if you already had supplies and just wanted to defend instead of diving and sitting in a queue.

  • @godoksa I don't mind this but in current environment with server alliances lying in ambush it would make them even more powerful. Maybe if and when they patch this (if they plan to)

And that's if you only win those games. In this time you can finish most AAA games. I said already Rare wasn't respecting it's players' time, but I've been shut down like people do all the time on these forums.

Don't say the grind is too much around here.

I really don't see the issue people have with alliances. It's adventure mode and it's called an ambush. Most pirate'y thing to do imho.

Plus it really is a non-issue I think. OK I only solo sloop so maybe I haven't seen the whole picture here, but this "issue" has happened to me less than 1% of my hundreds of games really. And I was actually pleased it happened too : It broke the monotony of fights and offered a real challenge (I lost every time it happened but so what ? It just could have been a loss vs a sweat-lord, these are all around too. It's just a loss, nothing to worry about, it doesn't happen THAT much...)

You are too focused on earning the rewards as quick as possible instead of just enjoying and playing the game. Allowing the rewards to roll out naturally

That the issue with today gamers. They want to earn everything day 1 or sooner than later. No grinding. (Got no time) but that what these are about. The long term.

  • I never said the grind was too much either. but just waiting around for that long in total is a bit much. you can do so many dives in that much time so having an option to cancel the cooldown would be better.

secondly. You aren't supposed to alliance with the hourglass up. that wasn't their intention and its not fair for a whole sever to wait for a boat to come up out of the water. Stop defending hourglass alliances. Please.

  • @burnbacon im all for the long term, im a very old player as well. very hardcore pvp player. im grinding all the way to 1k in both hourglass factions. Im a very dedicated player and completionist but most of those times I'll be diving because quicker fights. you aren't going to be waiting around for defending if you want levels. probably just for your defending 10 commendation.

Well can you really blame them ?

It's not like we were still in the 90's, with only a few releases a year, and games that lasted us months

Don't get me wrong here I'm not in favour of SoT becoming a casual game, but going the opposite way is putting many players away too.

That the issue with today gamers.

Again this is the most conservative comment one could make.

  • @burnbacon Thats the reason they allow leveling up to ridiculous numbers, some users are already past the 1000 level mark, something i don't look forward to ever reaching, just seems it takes the fun out of it if you are playing any game that much.

I don't know if it's a good strategy but as a kind of a compulsive completionist, I decided to focus on the curses first, by only attacking, then I'm gonna do the pve commendations while defending.

After that I don't know. I kinda agree with some people saying defending is not really worth it

  • @jolly-ol-yep you're right its not really worth defending. its much more worse for rep. no one is gonna want to defend 200 times for a class 100 trinket if they have to keep waiting 20 mins each time.

  • The first one in a session doesn't take 20 minutes; besides we need some time to get supplies, some might want to gather loot, lower & raise hourglass after a streak.
It's not like all of the 20 minutes is just twiddling our thumbs.

  • @lem0n-curry correct yes. you can get invaded whenever the first time you vote up. im not saying entirely remove the cooldown but have an option to cancel it somewhere on you map table how it works like with getting champion and fighting a bigger ship.
