I'd also like to see some scaling based on the matchup. If you're up against a much higher 'ranked' opponent and you win, you should get more allegiance than normal. If you are higher ranked and lose, you shouldn't get as much. This might also discourage loss farming to some degree, since the higher you get the less you will receive from throwing matches.
I think this is a good idea. In the SBMM FAQ Rare says,
Our skill-based matchmaking is based on a system that monitors the outcome of a battle and then adjusts the ranking of the crew accordingly. So if you win a battle, your matchmaking ranking will rise. Though if you lose, it will fall.
We learned that SBMM is based more on W/L ratio, but this is described quite similar to and Elo rating system. For those of your who don't know, an Elo rating system gives players a match making rating (MMR), and after some fancy math (probability(n)=Qn/(Q1+Q2), Q=power(10,MMR/400)) it generates a probability of either side winning.
Let's say the Servant in a battle has a 65% chance of winning so the Guardian has a 35% chance of winning. That means the Servant is 30% more likely to win. Why shouldn't the Servant earn 30% less allegiance for their "easier" match, and the Guardian get 30% more allegiance for their harder match? This would make getting paired with a substantially more skilled crew much less punishing. (I know they're going to remediate SBMM first thing this year, but it still won't eliminate unbalanced matches.)
I think the math is already in the matching engine, it would be pretty trivial for Rare to implement this.
