Reaper chest/bounty to athena or reapers for allegiance.

  • When first introduced the concept of the Reaper chest was that it doubloons were a valuable currency and Reaper chests awarding them was supposed to turn these chests into beacons for PvP to battle over this better currency. Doubloons have since lost pretty much all purpose. Reaper Bounties were introduced as a nice chunk of gold. Even they are rarely gone after or fought over as 10k gold really isn't much to be worth the trouble of going out of your way to grab them.

    Making them worth allegiance for the new factions would bring back their value as a PvP beacon. It could be something as small as Reaper chests are worth a loss worth or allegiance and a Bounty would be worth 2 losses. Some might argue this would allow FoTD stackers to farm PvE to gain.. True. But stacking FoTD is already setting yourself up to be PvPed anyway. But if its really that much of an issue you could just remove them from the FoTD loot table and put something else in their place.

    Or replace the shipwreck reaper chests and replace those with a new reaper chest type that's for allegiance.

  • This sounds like a good idea! I would love to see the comeback of a big chest that people fight over. It would be fitting seeing as arena was pvp and involved the same idea, and although I know that some people who grind pvp might not be fans, but I would love for it to add maybe even as much allegiance as a win, and carrying it not only puts the skull above your ship, but shows your ship on the map like the reapers emissary flag or the flag of the reaper's mark. This might be a bit far-fetched but maybe it would even make your ship go a bit slower to give other players a chance to catch you and/or make it a necessity to have sailed for the faction you turn it in to for at least 15 minutes or something similar.

    No. Not unless additional loot and participation/loser points issues are addressed along with this change.

    I will exploit this feature and sleepy reap my way to not only 75 but a pvp reward for continuing to expertly avoid pvp confrontations and combat. Effectively making a PVE cheese log of epic proportions.

    I'm happy with loser points in diving. I'm participating and I still have to somewhat defend my ship from spawncamp ringouts.

    Although I would very much like this aged cheddar on my SoT burger, it seems counterintuitive.

  • Basically just looking for a rework of what has now become an outdated and pointless item. Kind of like how I would like to see doubloons converted to gold all around. So all items with a doubloon value would also either pay out or cost gold then we can repurpose doubloons to make them useful again. They have been a pointless currency for what about 2 years now? People seem to be against even the smallest reputation gains with the new factions in anyway outside the PvP system itself. Was checking out HitboTCs stream today and he said the mode was already growing tiresome for him and the grind is so long and daunting that continuing to play it would likely make him hate the game.

    Right now everyones arguing against allowing any other kind of progress regardless of how slow, mean while 2 weeks in and even streamers are getting bored with the system. Its great conceptually but between the mechanics of how it works and que times and exploiters and simply how dauntingly long the grind is... You can make a system that has longevity on paper but a lot of Rares designs look good on paper but the reality doesn't deliver on that. IE cargo runs being the solution to people hating animal voyages.
