Outpost In-Between concept

  • This would essentially be a hub server. I know, I know, the topic is old as the Ancients, but hear me out. Most of the previous ideas were asking for just a town, where nobody could attack them and they would be safe. What it lacked though were the entertainment and activities, to keep the players there.
This is essentially a small town, where players can join straight from the main menu. This place is somehow located between SoT and SoTD, making the brick-and-stone town design finally possible.
There they will be able to find crewmates (before saying that there are discord servers there, hear me out) there, as well as ingage in a multitude of activities.

    1. Finding crewmates: on the dock there will be a lot of pirates all seeking to join or create crew. There, the players will be able to choose and change their ship size before actually setting sail. This way if some inconvenience happens, nobosy will remain to two-man a galleon or smth, and they can jus switch ships.
    2. Switching ships: upon logging in the pirates will have an opportunity to get a dock name and number, where they can change and customise their ships, as well as stock them up with supplies. Once the crew has been assembled, they will set sail and move to an in-game server alltogether. Potentially, the players from other servers could travel here on their stocked-up ships and recruit the pirates.
    3. Games: a long requested feature, available to those who are waiting for their friend/s or smth. This involves areas with blackjack, poker, liar's dice and a veriety of other games. Confident pirates may even bet their gold on the game, allowing to earn some coin without piracy itself.
    4. TDM arena: the town will have a large amphitheatre, where pirates will be able to duel anyone they desire. The spawn points will be located nearby, so that players may jump right back into action. This involves different layouts of arenas, as well as access to all weapons. Damage will be turned off at the territory out of the combat zone. Friendly fire is enabled)
    5. Rowboat race: pirates will be able to participate in the rowboat competition, which will require some quick maneuvering and skill to get to the prize.
    6. Parkour race: pirates will have to get from point A to point B. They may trave on foot, use roofs and shortcuts, or come up with their own way to get to the finish first. Reward is guaranteed.
    7. Secrets: the town will be big, with abandoned old houses on the outskirts and a maze of severs below. Full of secrets passeges, who knows what secrets the town of In-Between hides?
    8. Commedations: this place will allow both the developers and the community to express their wildest dreams. If made big enough, nearly anything can be added to make it more lively.
    9. NPC: the town will be full of various NPC's randonly walking the streets and sitting at homes. Maybe even some animals to feed and pet.
    10. If the town feels too big, taxi-carriages and portals could be implemented to make the travel process more enjoyable.
    11. Personal Hideout: players would be able to purchase their own hideout, enabling them to customise it as they please. This would involve a main hall, assembley room for the pirates to gether and talk business, a treasury (where pirate's wealth would affect the amount of gold on the floor) and a large hambers room - their own room, where they could make up every time if they please so. Or look at the town of In-Between from their luxurious balcony. You can also decide who is allowed to visit your place - no matter which team.
    12. Dungeons: the severs would be a dangerous place, where pirates would have to walk in the dark, fighting new enemies, starting from giant rats ending with something far more dangerous. Make sure not to get lost in the maze - people arely go down there.

If executed properly, with enough space for everyone, but not to an extent where the town feels abandoned, this would be the perfect Tortuga the players were asking for. What do you guys think?

  • Edit: I just realised how much I sound like a GMU representative, promising you all the luxury staff, lol)

  • Seems a little over the top and trying to take too much of a spotlight from the rest of the game. My prediction would be most of those mini games dying out once the novelty wears off.

But trim out the excess like rowboat races and it could be a good spot to find crews and set cosmetics.

  • @scheneighnay ikr, this does sound a lot like its own mini-game proposal. Its just that the other hub concepts were basically either an area on the server, where PvE guys would hide, either a separate sevrer hub with nothing to do apart from the crew search. At some point noone would visit it, just like the Pl hideout

  • I really like this idea. Open crew is a dumpster fire, and finding sweats on demand would be a dream come true.
    It needs 2 changes.
1- No dungeons. Giant rats kinda take away from the game.
2- Gambling would increase the age rating for SoT.
    Otherwise, I love it!
