solo sloop attacked by ghost galleon

  • Ok so there I am, parked up at an island, after defeating an island full of skellys and three captains, minding my own business. I got to my map, and I saw the looming red mark of the ghost galleon right in top of me. I thought "I need to get upstairs" but before I can do anything, the galleon was already hitting my ship with pin point accuracy, and before I could even get to the anchor, a skeleton spawned right behind me and took me out in one hit. I spawned back in to my sinking ship and I was instantly killed again by a skeleton, I didn't even have time to get my weapon out. My boat sunk and then spawned in the middle of Cannon Cove with a cannon firing at my ship, and by the time I killed the skeleton on the cannon and get to my ship, its gone.

For the love of [mod edit] god can you at least make it so solo sloops dont spawn in the middle of cannon covered island, or even better, stop ghost galleons randomly attacking you while your solo sloop is anchored at an island. Them attacking when you're saling, thats annoying, but i get that, its about evasive maneuvers or full on assault, but when you're just a sitting duck for a massive AI ship with perfect aim and skeletons that can spawn behind you out of nowhere, that is sooo [mod edit] ANNNOYING!!!!!!! Please give the solo players even just a tiny break.

  • OK, I see a LOT of problems with this recollection that cause serious doubts as to whether it actually happened, as much of what you are saying is literally impossible in this game.

First you say you were attacked by a ghost galleon. Well was it a ghost galleon or a skeleton one? And what is this red mark you are on about? Neither of those AI ships are marked on a map, only player ships flying a Reapers Flag or Mark would be visible like that. So far nothing matches with the reality of the game mechanics in your description.

But the real red flag about the veracity of this account came when you claimed a skeleton spawned behind you on your ship and killing you instantly. NOT POSSIBLE. Skeleton AI (or any AI enemy) does not spawn or board your ship....PERIOD! Only players can board your ship.

Other issues with the story - the spawning at Cannon Cove and immediately being under cannon fire. Sorry but IF your ship spawned there it would be well out of cannon range from the island, so that didn't happen either. It also doesn't spawn in the middle of the bay there, it would be either on the backside or at the dock. And if I'm not mistaken, there aren't many cannons on that island (despite the name) and they generally aren't manned either. So sounds like a lot of hooie being shoveled there too.

Finally the aim of the AI ships has been toned down greatly since they were introduced. They are not as accurate as you like to claim. Also skeleton ships would circle the island while engaging so at an island like Cannon Cove escaping would be easy once they got to the backside of the island. Also skeleton galleons typically don't spawn on sloops, and are generally passive unless you get too close or engage them - or if you stumbled upon the skeleton fleet then they would be aggressive (but those encounters happen in the open sea, not near the islands). Ghost ships only appear in certain areas - either as the Flameheart Fleet or when you select the specific voyage (or someone else does) and the whole fleet would circle that specific island until defeated or voyage cancelled.

If you are going to make one of these rants, at least try to make it believable as much of what you claim is flat out false and simply impossible in this game. I am a solo player myself and need no special consideration or "breaks" as you put it.

  • @dlchief58 I’d say everything you said was spot on besides the spawning in the bay at smuggler’s. I have actually had this happen many times over the years. The ship spawns in the bay facing the archway in/out.

I am assuming he is wrong about where he spawned because of his “middle of” definition. This would be the only explanation.

Cannon Cove doesn't even have cannons ...

  • Tales of SOT... how many start and end with being Rared?! In this case the plot holes complete a different kind of story

  • before I could even get to the anchor up

Solo sloop players, we all agree this was the moment we shake our heads and think “why was it down?”

  • I'm flabbergasted by how an account that joined 2 years ago got so much wrong in 2 paragraphs

So let's start out with the fact that you are playing a PvPvE open world game, that ship on the map with a red mark and a shadowy figure, that's a Reaper's Bones Emissary/Reaper's Mark ship. A galleon full of real players rolled up on your sloop, fired at you and prevented you from raising your already lowered anchor, proceeded to board you, kill you, and kill you one more time when you respawned to confirm your ship will sink.

Then you spawned at Smuggler's Bay, all the way at the top left (north west) side of the map, to spawn in on an actual AI skeleton firing at your respawned ship, and took so long to kill the skeleton or repair the holes the skeleton put inside your ship, it sank after you killed it.

You've had this game for or been on these forums since 2 years, and you posted like you just installed the game for the first time.

    So some tips:

Don't lower your anchor at an island. If a ship pulls up to your anchored ship, you will lose everything, a still target is a very easy target to hit. Raise your sails when you want to stop at an island, so that if you see an enemy ship over the horizon, you can lower your sails and make a quick getaway.

Always watch the horizon. This game can enamor you in its visuals and its activities, but you should always be alert for a pair of sails on the horizon at ANY time, so you are ready to defend yourself when you can.

  • Dudes, this one time I was at Plunder Canyon with my Schooner and we totally saved Captian Jim Sparrow from the eeeevil Davy Hawkins so we could dig up Pistol Pete's loot with a SPOON!

My uhhh... guide button was glitchy so I couldn't record.
Oh mah gawd can the spoon get a buff? (Nerf the fork. It's OP)

  • Something tells me this wasn't a skeleton ship, lol

  • @reddish-rascal Ghost Ship or Skeleton Ship? Also if your on a sloop Skeleton Galleons do not spawn on you and if you don’t attack a Skeleton galleon they won’t attack you ….if it was a Ghost Galleon then someone had a OOS quest on your island it was just bad luck

  • @pithyrumble
Naaaah Mate! Get good at the Game! The Spoon is perfectly balanced to the fork! It's Just your Talent!
