Game pass sails -- Owning fullgame and no reward?

  • Hi Rare,

As stated I bought the fullgame on release and don't like subscription services as I prefer to own things (maybe im oldschool whatever).

But I see people ingame with things they get for owning the gamepass. Why does people who forked out the full retail price of the game not get these same rewards ingame? Seems a bit strange.

Maybe I am just complaining? But it's a valid point I'm sure.

Anyway have a nice day etc.

  • @tranquillity91 Which sails are you referring to?

  • @galactic-geek Seems like some sort of bunny with glowing blue? Idk am watching it on someone's stream and they said it's for owning the xbox game pass ^^

The Ori sails, hull, flag, and figurehead? Yeah, I own the game and still got those, so your argument holds no water. The ONLY requirement is having Game Pass, which is often on sale for like $1 or offering free trials. Surely, if you really want it bad enough, you can afford that...

  • @galactic-geek The point is quite self explanatory. Why do you need to ALSO own the game pass when you already own the game?

So someone who spends £1 gets extra rewards vs someone who paid FULL PRICE -- why do I need to explain this? lol

  • Its a promotional set. simple as.

Many companies do this, offer in game rewards for checking out this or that. Its not that different from a redeem code.

  • I’m exceptionally happy with my Ori figurehead. I preordered the game way back when (best decision ever) and also paid a whole $1 just for game pass. So yeah - you’d be crazy not to take part in this deal. You can always cancel game pass too! It’s not like you’re locked in or something!

I will see if I can help you understand. Sometimes a company will offer promotional items to their customers from another business entity in return for extra income or visibility. For a little extra money, a fast food customer can purchase a special cup promoting a popular movie. A customer can purchase a ‘meal deal’ but the extra special movie item will cost a little extra. A credit card service may partner with an airline to offer bonus miles. A video game publisher may partner with a cookie company to offer in-game items in return for codes found on the cookie packaging. Or maybe a special item in-game for watching a streamer play the game for a period of time. Both entities benefit because fans/customers of one entity are exposed to the other. They do this in hopes that the additional exposure will result in an increase in sales for both. In this case, players who like Sea of Thieves can purchase Game Pass for $1 (if they have not already done so) and receive some bonus items in game for doing so. The upside for the customer is they get the bonus sails if they want them and access to a bunch of great games.

    Hopefully that helps.

  • youre going to be disappointed when SoT launches on steam and includes a steam cosmetic set then, cos its sure to happen.
