New Enemy Types and Monsters Ideas

  • Skeletons are the main threat in SoT, and they all come in different forms...

    1. Regular
    2. Gold
    3. Shadow
    4. Plant
    5. Drowned (these were unique skellies that only appear during the Shroubreaker Tale, kinda looking like a cross between undead and Davy Jones's fish crew)
    6. Hoarder (another unique type that appears during the Shores of Gold Tale)
    7. Ashen

And then there's the Sea Monsters...

    1. Megalodon - Each with different colors and names.
    2. Kraken - Not one, but many since I learned they are all offspring that came from one massive Kraken called the Great Mother.

Their should be new enemies to roam the game, here are my ideas...

    1. Ghost Pirates - Restless souls who sail on their ships, or walk on land, preying on the living.
    2. Feral Merfolk - These types would be ones who have lost their minds completely and attack an unfortunate pirate lost at sea, keeping them from returning to their ship.
    3. The Grand Maritime Union - People who used our ancient coins and have passed through the Shroud and shall bring order to the Sea of Thieves (these guys might act like the East India Trading Company from Pirates of the Caribbean).
    4. Wild Boar - This type of huge creature could appear at any big island and we would need to dodge away from its bull charge.
    5. Phoenix - A massive, fiery, flying type of bird that resides in the Devil's Roar Region and sleeps in volcanoes (on islands or some out in the sea) and explode out from its resting spot randomly and attempt to burn you with its flaming wings, shooting fire from its mouth or swooping down to ram its beak at your ship.
    6. The Leviathan - A large sea serpent that emerges from the depths and can shoot deadly balls of venom at you.
    7. Giant Whale - Seeing this as a peaceful animal unless provoked by sailors, if this can't be added, maybe we can get a simple whale that we can admire its size and noises from underwater.

  • I have waited years for these to be added. I hear it has to do with available computing power per server, but I'm not fully buying it. Things other than skellies and snakes to fight on islands would do this game SO much good.

Not gonna happen most likely. There's a rock formation in Shores of Plenty that is representing the spines of a Leviathan and it is HUGE. From the tail to the head, I say it is over like 30 Galleons length long for sure.

This is probably what they think the size of a Leviathan would be in their universe so I doubt we will ever get one.

It's might true. Rare seems to be pretty bad at optimization. Early patches that shouldn't have been larger than 500mb were 3-5gb. The size of the game was ballooning out of control early on even though it was still had early access lvls of content. They've gotten much better, but who knows? It's not an excuse that Rare can really make though. They have a live service game that is sold on their ability to keep adding things to the game. If they are only 2 years in and they are making this excuse then they completely and absolutely fail at their job.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the GMU suggestion (Some lore details are a bit iffy and hard to get around, but if done right, i could be on board with it), but the rest sounds good to me. :D

    Have an upvote, good sir!

  • @waronpants2664 So what you're saying is that Rare should work harder on optimization?

I like that idea too, have an upvote, good sir! 8D

  • @impymidna forgot the Ancient Skeletons. Albeit rare and not really a threat since they run away.

  • I love each and every one of these suggestions, here have my upvote!
