Im going to lay down some knowledge for you good sir.
You want to learn how to play Arena? Only way to do that is to play players better than you at the game.
Matchmaking isn't as good as it sounds. While the low levels are pretty populated, the high levels take forever to get started. You usually only get to play if the players who are your same rank are online. I've been in match making systems where I would wait 40mins for a match, only because the other person my rank wasn't online.
High level players usually only play against the same people over and over and over.
The other problem with match making systems is that the climb to getting better at the game is a slow climb for most players. Since you play against players your own rank you never get to realize how big the skill gap really is between you and the high levels. You have knowledge that there is a skill gap but you don't actually have an understanding of how far that gap really is.
Seeing that gap, understanding that gap, opens up more doors in your head. You realize that certain things that you believed impossible are not impossible. You get to see other players do these things and by watching them happening, you are learning. By facing these harder obstacles you get better at a faster rate than if you weren't.
Match making systems are horrible for learning and getting better. They only make you feel comfortable.
