A Dishonest Day’s Work
Duke needs your help again in this month’s update! Pirates supplied him with many Reaper’s Chests last month, but after opening them all, he now has something of a stock problem. Some were valuable and worth more than what he paid… but most are worthless. Will this drop the anchor on his new Black Market enterprise?
While some chests contained rare items that he’s already started selling, others were full of old rags, bones, shards and indecipherable scrawlings. However, thanks to an unlikely new ally, Duke can still shift this dead stock – if he can find some pirates willing to get their hands dirty!
Rags to Riches
Finding some of the Reaper's Chests to be duds, Duke buried their unwanted contents in crates on Shipwreck Bay. However, Stitcher Jim has recently returned from exile and is intent on proving himself to the Bilge Rats. He’s managed to broker a deal with the Seapost traders, who will now pay Doubloons for Duke’s Rag and Bone Crates. So you could help Duke’s struggling business with just a little smuggling…
Don’t worry about being gentle with Rag and Bone Crates – they’re already broken! However, time is money and the Seapost traders will not honour their prices if they’re forced to wait. Take a Rag and Bone Voyage from Duke, grab some creepy crates from Shipwreck Bay and be ready to sail at speed to deliver them!
Unlikely Partners
Since his betrayal of the Forsaken Shores Alliance was brought to light, Stitcher Jim has been keeping his head down in The Devil’s Roar. However, with a recent shift in power, he has crawled his way back to civilisation as a new man – aided by his mysterious beloved. It seems there’s nothing better than true love to heal a blackened heart...
Stitcher Jim is desperate to prove his worth and rejoin Outpost society, which is why he’s helping Duke with his Rag and Bone Voyages. Could Jim be the newest Bilge Rat recruit and find an honest (for a pirate) way to make a living? Perhaps so, if enough pirates chip in to make Duke’s new enterprise a success.
How To Get Started
Duke is your first port of call in Smuggler’s Fortune! His Rag and Bone Voyages will only run for the duration of this update, so find him in any tavern and start transporting those unwanted crates. Some Voyages will take you to Shipwreck Bay, while others will take you from one Seapost to another. Chatting to Duke also allows you to check out his new Black Market items.
Meanwhile, browse the stock of the Pirate Emporium by talking to new characters at Outposts and in The Arena tavern. Remember that Pirate Emporium goods are bought only with Ancient Coins, which are generally purchased with real-world cash. Read on to learn more…

The latest update also brings some long-awaited additions to Sea of Thieves that will endure beyond this month. You can now shop for pets, pirate emotes and unique ship liveries in the permanent Pirate Emporium, and pick up variants of favourite cosmetics from days gone by in Duke’s Black Market.
Pirate Emporium
This brand new storefront sells unique, collectable cosmetic items and pirate pets! Using Ancient Coins purchasable with real-world cash, this is where you can buy pets, pet outfits, new emotes and premium ship liveries. Emporium stock will change with each future update, beginning this month with parrots, monkeys and the celebrated Bear & Bird Ship Livery Set!
Emporium representatives at Outposts and in The Arena tavern will allow you to purchase Ancient Coins and exchange them for Emporium items. Pirates seeking to stock up on Ancient Coins should also keep an eye out for rare skeletons appearing in the world who hoard these Coins for themselves. Take one down to claim their loot!
Black Market
Meanwhile, for those with Doubloons and gold to spend, Duke’s new Black Market venture is up and running. After working hard to forge connections with the Trading Companies and secure special stock through the Reaper’s Chests, Duke is now able to offer a selection of different items for sale each month.
Many of these items will be familiar to long-serving pirates, as they’re variants of time-limited cosmetics from previous updates. Now’s your chance to grab something in the same style, starting with Fearless Bone Crusher items for the duration of Smuggler’s Fortune! Other goods on the ever-changing Black Market can be bought for gold, including this month’s Deep Ocean Crawler weapons. Unable to afford everything you want? Don’t fret, Duke promises these items will be available again in future.
