I've reached my limit of what I can and want to endure with Sea of Thieves. First I want to write a bit about what I love about the game and what have made me logging back on day after day for almost a year now.
The graphics and sounds in SoT is some of the best I've played. The art style reminds me of Monkey Island in many ways. And it's just a joy to take it all in. Especially in 4K and HDR on a good TV or monitor. Just amazing!
Same with the sound. It's just incredible the attention to details that's in this game. It in combination with the graphics is an experience second to none.
And then there's the "hand on" approach to everything in the game. Need sails? Well you have to lower it then! Adjust to the wind etc...all hands on approach that is something that for some reason is "lost" in so many games today.
Doing voyages with friends or strangers. Finding treasures, doing cargo runs and fighting waves of skeletons is fun and addicting. Filling up the ship and feeling the panic when the meg, skeleton ships or kraken wants it's pound of flesh is exhilarating.
But the reason I'm saying goodbye for now is "YOU". The other players.
I've had enough of the profanity. The trolls. And the type of player that is sadly often drawn to PvP type of games. Competitive player that dont care about anything but killing and sinking you. Often over and over again. Hindering you from getting any progress at all. Forcing you to either switch server or log off and play something else.
Everyone I've played with have quit the game. Many because they found it boring. But also quite allot because they just dont want to deal with the endless PvP. Now one year after launch I'm finding myself in the same boat. Same goes for my friend that's been with me on our sloop since launch.
We dont want to deal with PvP any more. It's ruining the fun for us. So until big changes happens we will find something else to play. I have hopes that the Arena will draw away the worst of the worst. But I doubt it will help enough as it's completely different then trolling and doing PvP on the open sea.
Thanks Rare for a fantastic time in Sea of Thieves! That said I hope you have gotten allot of messages like this over the year. And that you will do something to keep us playing. If not then thanks for a great one year and best of luck in the time ahead.
Goodbye
