Skull of siren song should be a world event.

  • I remember completing my first Skull of Siren Song voyage—there was so much chaos, and I loved it! But then the note on my mast appeared again and again. After finishing all the commendations a year ago, I lost interest because nobody else seemed to care about it anymore. What was once an exciting PVP experience has become Briggsy's errand simulator.

Yesterday, I did the voyage with a friend for the easy 50K (it’s never contested, and he wanted to try it). There’s a certain irony when you finish the voyage without encountering any opposing crew, yet Briggsy still says, "It's quite the battle you've fought to fend off other crews and win the prize."

While this voyage is a great way to make 50K, it fails as a PVP experience. Don’t get me wrong—it’s fantastic content, but the issue lies in player interaction. In my opinion, it appears too often. Its frequency makes players stop caring, just like if a Chest of Fortune replaced every Castaway's Chest. If it were added to the world event rotation, it would become much more contested. Suddenly, that little note on the mast could generate as much activity as the Fort of Fortune since they’d share the same space in the rotation.

As long as it remains a neo-world event, the player base will stay split between the Skull of Siren Song and regular world events. So far, most players seem to prefer the latter. Changing this would revive the Skull of Siren Song as a competitive voyage and add value to all world events by increasing variety and concentrating player conflict, rather than dividing it as the current format does.

  • I be less more than willing to do this as a WE
Able to do this freely and taking place during an actual WE is much more fun.

The experience and the rewards for doing it should be good enough for people to want to engage with it. That isn't the case for a number of reasons, the main one being that 50k gold isn't worth it to many people. They should fix that first. Also, if it was mandatory that people took part in it you'd simply find one crew doing it uncontested while the other 'participants' do nothing, since they didn't want to participate in the first place.

  • It is a world event, just a constant one, until its done. I was trying to farm them for a bit and without just server hopping to get to a server with an active one, I had to wait like 30-40 minutes before another one spawned

Improvements to a Song of Siren Song are regularly suggested because when it was a new event with lots of crews attempting it, it was some of the best PVP on the seas. Now with most crews having gotten all the achievements interest has dropped off. While my crew always votes for it to see if anyone is doing it, then we go to try and stop them, most crews do not bother. This is b/c listening to the intro is a little annoying AND you may not know another crew is doing it unless they have dug up the chest or key. Two or more crews can vote on it, do other things while waiting for someone to get the key, so the PVP is there but someone has to invest time digging up the key or chest for the others to know. But there are some simple fixes for this outside

Option 1: Indicate on the note other crews have joined
When the voyage appears on your mast, have some sort of indicator showing how many crews have already signed up for the quest is included. This could be a counter in Roman numerials. Or have the note change color, purple for 1, blue for 2 crews, red for three or more.
If crews see either of these then they know its worth joining in.

Option 2: Make it a dive voyage only.
You vote on the mast as normal to get the old dialog explaining that Brigiy needs your help but new dialog instructing you to sail out to sea to start the voyage. Once you dive you arrive at a random small island with a dig up location. Dig up the bottle and hand it to Brigiy on your boat.

If there are other crews already doing the quest she immediately says Oh this is clear, go to these islands to get the key and chest The new locations are then added to your quest wheel.

If someone has already dug up either the key and/or chest Brigiy will add in fact I think someone else already has at least one of them, you better sail there fast! The dug up key and/or chest then appears like normal.

If you are the first to arrive on the server you get new dialog. This bottle contains strange writing, I will have to consult with others to find the location of the key and chest, this could take some time. Feel free to do other quests or investigate that strange cloud on the horizon (world event). I will be back as soon as I can. She then disappears

Once another crew dives to the word she will reappear and say I worked it out, there are the locations of the key and chest but becareful other crews are on the trail as well! and the new locations will be added to your quest wheel.
