This is for those who don't like the current state of PvP (and you don't have the curse yet)

  • Guys, getting a skeleton in this game is real.
Even if a much stronger opponent approaches you, and you sit on the ferry the whole battle.
Even if everyone runs out of cores, boards and food.
Even if the battle lasts more than 2 hours, and you are already tired of sailing one after another.
Even if a kraken, megaladon, any armada or player's ship joins your battle.
Even if you are a lone sloop, and someone tries to take you out of the battlefield. (Maybe I was just lucky, but all the times they tried to take me out of the circle, the streak was mine, even when I couldn't do anything to him at all. I just dropped anchor before this guy had time to kill me).
Even if you are going to sell your watch, but suddenly the battle begins.
Even if you are kicked out of the server, and your ship has several flags, and when you try to return to the session, some error appears.
Even if you meet 1 or many crews who suddenly, out of nowhere appear on your ship and kill you before you can come to your senses. these guys have a special ability to shoot and hit you through the walls of the ship with small arms (don't forget to record these fights and send them to support). I had this happen to me 1 time, support quickly processed my report. thank you to them.

Believe me, everyone goes through all this to get their skeleton.

Nobody likes to be in an unequal battle and, most likely, drown. I can't even count exactly how many times my team had to fight with players who had a golden curse of a skeleton or a ghost. And we don't have such a curse at all, not even a noob skeleton. Yes, it's annoying.

And there can also be a series of failures when despair takes over, and you already know at the moment of voting for the fight that you will lose. Don't dive. Just find another entertainment at sea. And as soon as you are morally ready to enter the battle, then continue.

Today my ritual finally happened. And everything I wrote above, it all happened to us. I read a lot of comments on this forum about the terrible state of pvp. Many angry comments echoed my feelings when I had to find myself in an unfair situation. And there was one question: "Did they all manage to get their curse?". I'm afraid not. Most likely, many left this game because the goal was too unattainable. But again, believe me, it is possible. And it really is not as difficult as it seems when you are somewhere halfway there.
    Good luck in your battles!!!

  • congratz! Well done. Good thing, that you kept fighting. cheers!

I have over 4000 hours of playtime in Sea of Thieves.
I enjoy PvP in adventure a lot. And yet I do not enjoy hourglass that much.

Often feels like something is missing from that mode, that enables you to feel joy and have fun.
Does not matter if I win or lose - it just does not feel right for me and I often just play a few matches at a time.

I see that your account was created just this year. So you seem to play a lot of hourglass. :-)
Are there things in this mode, that you actually enjoy? How does it feel for you, apart from all those annoying things?

  • But again, believe me, it is possible. And it really is not as difficult as it seems when you are somewhere halfway there

Yup. But majority players. (Young kids) don’t have the attention span for it. They want it “now” and blame everything else besides themselves

You quit. You really did lose. Give up. You lost again.
“Why do we fall? So we can get back up”

  • @roslynka1

I got a sloop and a brig third partying on a sweaty fight at the same time.

I so badly wanted to take a blunderbuss to their backs.

  • @drfauli If you don't mind, I'll tell you a little about our game.
Almost every evening we sail with friends on a galleon or brig to have fun for 2-4 hours. At first there were 5 of us, and we've been in the game since the beginning of season 15. (Oh, yes, we are noobs and we don't get offended when someone at sea tries to manipulate this word because it's always a little funny)
Then we came across a sloop at sea, the captain of which was from our country. It turned out that he spent most of the time in the game in an hourglass. So we had a lot of questions about pvp).
*Because it became clear to us even then that we needed to somehow learn how to save our galleon from being boarded by a sloop, and chaos has no place here.
Then we started having thoughts that we could agree and determine who would shoot from which cannon, or not to fix a few holes with the whole team
    XD
So he agreed to teach us how to play, and from that moment on, there were 6 of us in our team. And we started voting for an hourglass. And when it became clear what season 16 would be like, we decided that now we had to make more efforts to get the curse.

    *Briefly about our problems:
Boarding, it's almost a disaster.. We were looking for any way to prevent boarding. And then we discovered Traps. Although they exploded when a cannonball hit nearby, or one of us accidentally touched it, for some time it was exactly what we were looking for in every barrel at the outpost and did not dare to enter the battle without a supply of traps (haha).

I'm getting a little off topic, sorry.

So, why do we like the hourglass, considering that we learned to play a little? It can really be fun when you and your opponent are "on equal terms" and soberly assess your chances of winning and the chances of the enemy. It's when there's no race, and everyone understands why they're there. It's really fun for us when someone from the enemy team comments out loud on our boarder's sword skills. Or at least there's some kind of communication, even if it's just waving or dancing on the ferry. It's also really fun when the combat situation becomes unpredictable, and one that requires ingenuity. Sometimes we do something they don't expect, sometimes they do something better than us. Even if we lose, we understand that they were better in their tactics and deserve to win. But the main thing is that it's on equal terms. No one remembers the fights where they sank ships that didn't put up any resistance at all. Just like no one remembers the fights when their ship went to the bottom like a brick, and they couldn't do anything about it.

Yup. But majority players. (Young kids) don’t have the attention span for it.>

Of course, by “players” I mean people who, due to their age, are already able to analyze their actions, the actions of other players, be prepared for any possible scenario of events and, most importantly, realize that this is just a game.
Although the game claims to be for all age categories, I cannot imagine how a child can adequately perceive, evaluate the actions of other players interested in victory/prey. After all, how a child can perceive the tricks of other interested players, even if it is PvE. Of course, there are safe seas, I have nothing against them. But if they (children) are already in the open sea, and are counting on some victory/prey and “suddenly” drown, this can be an extremely painful experience for them.

But the paradox is that there is no one to blame here. Neither the developers who indicated “any age”, because in fact there is nothing prohibited by age standards in the game, nor the parents who allow a child to play it, and even less so a child who just wants to have fun, win, sell some loot or something else, but he doesn’t succeed.
And no one can prove to a child that he is simply too young to understand all this, to predict the actions of other players, because he is a child. “This must be done immediately”. We have all been children and we all know very well what it is like when there is only today and now.
