@x-crowheart-x My session actually started on a sour note. I'd spent a lot of time loading up on supplies and kegs, hoping to chance upon a ship cloud in the sky. I'd dropped an Athena voyage just to have something to do in the meantime. While I was at Plunder Valley, suddenly I heard an explosion. Sure enough, some sneaky pirate in a rowboat had kegged my sloop. By the time I got back they'd dropped another keg, and it was hopeless. My sloop sank along with all my supplies (and zero loot) I'd spent so much time gathering. So I was pretty good and mad at that point. I respawned pretty close to Plunder, so I hightailed it back to the island hoping to catch the rascal who kegged me. I didn't find him, but the two rowboats (his and mine) were still there. Then I spotted an approaching galleon. Thinking it might have been my attacker(s), I climbed in a rowboat and rowed myself on an intercept course towards the galleon.
I managed to catch the galleon, believe it or not. I jumped out of the rowboat, climbed up the ladder and managed to best the entire crew. Mind you, I'm not a great PvPer, so I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. I climbed into the crow's nest looking for a keg to drop, but no luck. I figured I'd never get the anchor up before the crew respawned, so I had a seat and waited for them to get back underway. They searched for a while but never checked the crow's nest. Eventually they gave up and raised the anchor. I decided to just enjoy the ride for a while, plotting my next move. Finally someone started climbing up to the crow's nest, so I knew the jig was up. I shot him with my flintlock, and the fall finished him off. I slid down and killed the whole crew a second time.
By this time, I was sure I'd attacked the wrong crew. They didn't seem experienced, crafty or bloodthirsty enough to have kegged my sloop. But by then I was just having fun with them. They'd dropped anchor again, and when they were dead I tried to raise it. I didn't make it quite in time, and finally they got me. More power to them.
After that I continued roaming the seas, fighting skellie ships, plundering shipwrecks...just being the scavenger I am. When I docked at Ancient Spire to unload, I thought I had the seas to myself. I was mightily surprised when that same green galleon suddenly materialized right on top of my sloop. I have no idea how full the server was, but it was certainly a shock. I so wish I'd had the presence of mind to record that, or at least take a snapshot. It was crazy and a bit Douglas Adams-esque.
I'm glad the crew were good sports. :)
