A large portion of my Sea of Thieves experience revolves around other players being cooperative by using either in-game chat or microphones to communicate with me, and the other members of my crew; seeing as I don't have many dedicated SoT friends to play with, I always use my microphone to talk with other players and I expect others to do the same as well. Ever since I started playing Sea of Thieves I always thought that the preliminary requirement to join a galleon by yourself was to have a working microphone or a keyboard (for typing); some would consider these helpful tools whilst others believe that it's absolutely necessary - I am one of those people.
You'd think that seeing as Sea of Thieves revolves around team-play (referring to the galleon) that almost all players would have microphones, but you'd be wrong; I spent over an hour (and that's not an exaggeration) trying to find a crew that at least had one person using a microphone, or even responding to me - over an hour! Call me entitled, but it's incredibly annoying having crew members running around like headless chickens without an objective; I'm talking about those who raise the anchor as soon as they spawn in, others who don't vote on voyages, and people who are just generally unhelpful or trolling. If you're new to the game, these things a fine to do and completely acceptable, and I'm willing to educate new players on how the game works regardless of how clueless they are... but how are you supposed to teach people who don't listen, or play with people who act like they're a one man army?
I understand that everyone has their own motives and I know that some people simply don't have access to a working microphone, but should the experience of the majority be tainted by the few who choose not to communicate?
I didn't come here just to complain however, I came here with a suggestion which has been requested time and time again: Put players with microphones into the same crews.
If you want to be uncooperative and unhelpful then fine, be with people who have the same idea, but if you want to cooperate and collaborate with your crew (which is what you're meant to do) then you'll be matched with people who actually want to succeed in the game.
So what does everyone else think? I've always been under the impression that people want to play with others who use microphones, and am I wrong? If you genuinely prefer to play with crews who don't talk then I'm keen to here your reasoning. This is my opinion, and I know others have their own, so let's all have an actual discussion about this issue (if you can call it that) without being demeaning to other players - remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
P.S Again, I'm not throwing shade at people who don't use microphones because I'm sure you have your reasons why; I'm only annoyed with people who don't communicate at all.
