I had an Xbox 360 a long time ago. I lost interest in it and moved onto exclusively PC and PS4 gaming. I have since then created a Microsoft account under a newer email adresse which I have been using for work (Such as Word online, etc).
In order to purchase this game, I had to create an Xbox account and did not want this purchase or game to be tied in any way with my old forgotten email adresse. Thus began the creation of an Xbox account for a PC game (Weird, but I get it I guess, for the cross platform).
Xbox did this thing where it gives you a random gamertag which you can change. I was creating my character when it asked me to create it, and so my character is now called WOODEDDRAGOON46.
Look, I know, it's an awesome name. But I just need to know this:
- I have changed my xbox name to my arguably lesser but still prefered name (as you can see by my forum name).
- When I log into Sea of Thieves, my new name is shown on the top right.
- When I join a server, my character in the Crew list is still WoodedDragoon46.
If I delete my character and start a new one, will it have my new name, or is it something I did wrong on the Xbox website? I don't mind deleting it, but I'd rather not do it if it won't work.
PS: If there's a way to link my old xbox account with achievements and such to my new one, please let me know!
PPS: God I Wish this game was on steam... But it's worth it (I keep repeating to myself frantically after trying to purchase the game for 45 minutes).
