The Unsinkable Sloop glitch

  • I have encountered the most annoying, game breaking glitch I have ever seen in this game that put me off a great deal.

We were chasing after a sloop, also in a sloop. They crashed into Dagger Tooth Outpost' dock and remained there with their sails down. We thought they anchored but they haven't, so we parked behind them and filled them with holes continously. At one point, after killing them, their ship has sunk. We knew it sunk because we saw the water level and heard the GONG sound as welland we thought we were able to get our stuff back from a previous fight we had somewhere else. But they kept spawning in, bailing despite us keep shooting it..... It would refuse to despawn, sink, do anything. It was stuck on the dock. We could not dislodge it, and they kept coming back to it, respawning, could not even be bothered to bail because they knew that it was stuck. We kegged it, fired more cannonballs, nothing. We ran out of cannonballs and food and we had over 150.
At one point they were just sniping us from the dock because their ship wouldn't sink and all they had to do was that.... Pick us off untill we ran out of supplies. They eventually sunk us and we came back only to find them full of holes, stuck on the dock.

I am so absolutely shattered about it.

  • I know this isn't real life, in game, but...

In real life, a ship sitting on land isn't going sink.

The game does take into account a ship on land and after a certain amount of time, it will despawn.

It's not really a glitch or bug. It's just how it is and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Yeah this has been in the game since launch....doubt over a year later anything will be fixed.

  • Extremely rare bug, never happend to be and i have easily over 2k hours but still. It should get fixed.

  • I’ve been saying this forever!!!!

    The Sloop is NIGH UNSINKABLE!!!

Ain’t no glitch. The ONLY way to sink a 2 man Sloop is if BOTH players are killed simultaneously or one goes afk.

I can literally make it across the map solo with 6 holes and no planks! 2 man crew it can’t be sunk!!!

Again unless both crew members miraculously die simultaneously!

    I hate sloops.

God forbid you have one pea sized hole in a Galleon that sh$t will go down instantly!

  • @skylerpk it takes a while but the ship will finally despawn. Seen it on islands or when they wedge themselves in areas. Similar to skeleton ships that beach themselves. As they are not in the water, they don't fill with water.

  • Ships above water will not fill with water, hence why it won't sink. However, after 2 minutes it will despawn and literally blink out of existence if it doesn't go back into the water or get fully repaired. I have actually tested this and know it to be 100% true. Theoretically, if they "sink" while above the water, and repair all of the holes, they can still save the ship, which is what happened in this case, I think. It's unfortunate that this had to happen to you, but at least appreciate the fact that it is a very rare thing to happen. Usually when you get stuck, the ship will start to move backwards, especially if you shimmy the wheel from side to side. If you're not anchored and do this, you can get unstuck from virtually everything. If you have a hole though and can't do it in under 2 minutes, though, you'll have to find a new ship.

  • Yet more proof that: Players do not sink ships. Water Sinks Ships

Skeleton ships will occasionally hit an island hard enough to be stranded high and dry - and unsinkable. @Galactic-Geek is right though: a ship that is stuck like that will eventually blink out of existence. In the case of skeleton ships, the treasure they held falls to the land and can be collected.

    Uhhh... no?

This is literally because the sloop was on land and even though it actually was "sunk", it wasn't able to move under the water to despawn as sinking ships do...

Ships on dry land long enough despawn themselves, so it was just a different function of the game at play.

This has nothing to do with how bad someone might be at actually sinking sloops lol.

Start punching large holes in and making sure you hit the people repairing on those same holes with shots. Fills up real quick lined with large holes they can't stay on long enough to finish repairing, dead or not.

  • @surveyorpete it falls inside the land as if its floating in water and sometimes will be below the sand unable to be grabbed

  • @skylerpk The only glitch in this scenario is the sound effect playing to signify the ship sinking. If the ship was stuck beside the dock, water will be unable to enter the ship through the holes.

At that point you're just wasting cannonballs by shooting them. You would've been better off just hopping onto their ship and spawn camping them whilst you got them unstuck.
