0 reasons to play on a sloop.Nerf the Galleons.

  • As a starting note, you can like playing on either ship more.Thats fine. Since that'll make die hards thatre opposed to the galleon nerfs no matter what.

How does double the crew and a faster ship make sense? PvP can take forever and for barely any rewards in a galleon but the actual Chase and the fight are extremely diffrrent levels between the two ships.Especially when I can put three gun powder barrels into a chasing galleon and they still catch up.Theres no stoping it.You shouldn't be a minnow because you want to play with a friend or solo.It should be even.Everyone should be a shark.Or at least a Marlin or a dolphin hahah

Yes,theres jumping off the ship at an Outpost or "just fighting them",but it's not enough. And of course a few people will say "well why not just galleon?" Well then what was the point in the sloop in the first place? I haven't found any reasons against more even play.Im hoping that the community can,but it'll be tough.

  • @admiralcactus stealth, mauverability, faster upwind than galleons, can sail in shallows and under those arch things, easy and faster to adjust sails and bring up anchor

they both have different uses and advantages/disadvantages

it just sounds like your not as comfortable in a sloop

  • I disagree. I love taking out the Sloop (actually a "Cog") and I will attack and sink Galleons.

I do think that we need more variety in the island spacing, so that there are more shallow narrow areas around islands that would provide shelter for the smaller ships.

And in general, I think they have the rewards reversed. We should get more reward for more risk, and the few people you sail with the riskier it is. Right now, larger crews get bigger payouts.

  • @admiralcactus It takes a special skill to take on a galleon with a sloop, but me and my buddy have been more than successful with taking on a galleon in a sloop. Galleons are slow, sloops are fast. Galleons hit hard and move slow, Sloops move fast and hit light. Stay fast, hit light, board secretly. You can't just go head to head against a galleon. You have to have a playbook.

  • Good news. Sloops are getting 4 man crews :)

No reason to play the galleon now. haha.

  • @adam3ros if you’re wanting me to feel nostalgic about the old Patrician game for PC by mentioning Cogs... now there is a game they could have mined for content ideas!

PS: the sloop is a billion times better than the galleon and once the 4-man sloop update arrives we’ll never see a galleon roaming the seas again.

  • Here is how to stay ahead of a galleon:

Here's a link I give to everybody that doesn't think the sloop is worth using:
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/24675/alone-on-a-wide-wide-sea-collected-hints-and-tips-for-the-solo-pirate

Using and practicing what you learn here, you will easily take out a galleon unless they are a very coordinated crew.
