In the game, I hope to see an underworld arena added. By underworld, I, of course, mean the realm where you go to when you die and where the Ferry of the Damned is.
How you get there:
-There should be some kind of portal or rift you can walk through to get there at every outpost. This will take you to the lobby of the Underworld Arena.
What you can do there:
-From the lobby of the arena, you can queue up for an arena match. There are 2 main types of arena matches, PvP, and PvE. Otherwise, you can just chill in the lobby area and maybe spectate other matches.
PvP:
-In the PvP mode, you can face other payers ranging from 1v1s to 4v4s. I particularly
want a sword only mode to be implemented, especially in the 1v1 mode. I cannot emphasize enough how important I think a sword only mode will be. With guns, all you really do is aim and fire, but with swords, the combat system is at least a little more complex. There's blocking, light attacks, and heavy attacks. I think this will make the duel feel a little more intense and rewarding, as well as making it seem like a gladiator fight. It will especially give us For Honor fans or Dark Souls fans, or any game of that sort, a "home" to go to in Sea of Thieves. But there still can be gun enabled modes; all I ask is that there is a sword only mode included.
PvE:
-In the PvE mode, you can face waves of enemies that you have to survive like skeletons and whatever other AI enemies that may be added to the game. There can be ammo crates and supply barrels scattered across the arena that players can pick up to make their lives easier when fighting the swarms of enemies. There can also be explosive barrels scattered throughout the arena.
Mode options:
-The player should be able to select the settings a game mode has. For example, in the PvP mode, it can be a best of a number of rounds and enable or disable sword only mode. Maybe even a dominion type of mode can be added. In PvE, the player can choose the difficulty of the number of enemies, and maybe even the number of waves. The greater the difficulty the greater the reward.
-The player should be able to select all of the options that they're ok with opposed to having to select only one specification of a mixture; this way they can get into matches more quickly or if they wanted more randomness to what type of mode they will play.
Atmosphere:
-The arena will be in the Underworld or Davy Jones Locker. There will be an audience of the damned watching. There will also be an arena king spectating from a throne. The arena king will probably be some ghost captain or ghost skeleton. Maybe the arena king will make the announcements in the arena if there will be any. The arena king could also be the one to give the rewards to the players that earned it.
Rewards:
-After a match, the player will be rewarded based on difficulty if it were PvE, and the number of rounds won (and maybe game type) if it was PvP. They will collect these rewards (if any were earned) in a separate room they will be sent to after a match ended. The rewards might be given in gold. Maybe there will be a fourth faction that you can gain reputation with if you compete in the arena. Also maybe the way the reward system should work is you earning boons or medals in the arena, that you can then turn into this faction for gold and reputation.
Afterthoughts:
-This idea has plenty of potentials to add to the content and longevity of the game. I also think that it will make the game appeal to a wider audience.
-There are plenty of potential game modes that can be added to both the PvE and PvP types of this underworld arena. There can also be multiple maps of the arena. Maybe some will can more cover than others, and some will have many cliffs that you can fall from into spikes. The theme of the maps can also be very different. Some can have lava, while others have more water. Some maps may be empty and clear.
