@captainsloopdog Yeh that and all supply barrels would be inaccessible to other crews.
They need to make crew members and their ship totally invincible in passive mode. How they would interact with the environment is the trickiest part.

@the-bobcat-316 As others have said, this would have to be a set of predetermined symbols. Otherwise we would have inappropriate flags everywhere.
I would honestly like to see the ability to deploy signal flags. Something akin to the international maritime system.
Being able to communicate visually would be of great help.
@ch4o5bl4d3 , @MythicalFable and @spec24 I think everyone is taking my statement the wrong way; I have nothing against any symbols or references that people may use on their flags and again, I'd like to state that I would be all for an addition like this to the game. Also I didn't intend for the swastika to cause such a commotion, I was only using it as a more docile example to communicate my point rather than committing a hate crime over the web. Of course I could spend my time listing the limitless amount of racial slurs and sexual innuendoes which would no doubt find their way onto peoples flags but I'd rather not get banned from the site. Take a game like Call of Duty for example, they have customisation in their game and look what happened to it; every lobby you go in will have at least one person with a picture of a semi-naked lady or controversial slur on their banner. Again I have no problem with this, but I'm sure that parents buying their kids these games might have some concerns regarding this issue; after all, you don't want little Timmy going into class with a swastika drawn on his arm and the letters "K***K" engraved on his cheek (an extreme example, but I hope you know what I'm getting at).
Also whilst I'm reading through your responses now, @spec24 I do indeed acknowledge that the swastika originated from the Indonesian areas and was adopted by the nazis; what you may not have known is that the Indonesian swastika is positioned differently to the n**i variation which appears to be turned on its side, this was the swastika that I was referring to. Regardless of its positioning, the symbol in general is better associated with the nazis rather than Indonesia (throughout first world countries at least).
@MythicalFable again, the ideals you're presenting are idealistic, but there are many people who aren't to keen on this outlook of life; it seems that you're basing your solutions for this problem based on 'ifs' like "if people thought this way" or "if they became educated" (not direct quotes from your statements but close enough) but the truth is, is that people will remain uneducated unless they're presented with a compelling reason to alter their perceptions, and for this reason it is unlikely for people to change their opinions.
But anyway, I hope that I've pleased everyone with what I've said as I wasn't intending for this to ever become an argument, but if we never speak again then I hope that you have a good day/night.

Yeah, I know that. They cocked it a whole 45deg. It wouldn't matter. The average person simply sees a "hate" symbol (I know you agree with that).
Yes, most in first world countries see it as the n**i symbol...that's my point.. that fact should change. Native Americans used it, Europeans used it, Indians, on and on.. It should be reclaimed as the peaceful symbol it was and not forever granted to that a****e.
Anyway.. I'm still for a system of customizable flags. This is a reason why my idea of a pirate registry, I think, would also help to curb people's crazy flag ideas.

When you create your pirate identity, any flag you created would go with you and be available for all to see, and report. This could even be semi-permanent (only changeable through mod permission).

I understand. I hope everyone else understands as well. ^^

I understand. Education is the key though. There are compelling reasons around, but advocating people to look for them is indeed relatively difficult, especially if I have to trick them into it. Of course there are some who won't seek and thus won't learn. Those I've met belong to rather young generations, not very old ones, but I guess some of the older ones may express resistance too.
Same pattern with toxicity. Prevention thorough education lessens it the sooner it is provided; the sooner provided, the younger the client. The younger the client, the probable the resistance unless parented well enough. Raising the age rating helps, but that will only postpone the issue if proper education is not provided in the meantime.

Misunderstandings happen. No harm done. ^^
