Ha ha yea like I said I cant see the wheels right now lol but having all the primary speech in the multiple pages of the main wheel would be nice!

Also I keep forgetting I have a watch lol...I dont think I've ever used it lol

While I dont have the game currently ON I cant see the actual wheel so please focus on the big picture I know there is an "over here" option etc

But the suggestion is an overhaul of the whole wheel system! Adding a bunch more options, the more we can say the easier communicating is!

And yes I have a mic..and I use it lol not everyone does so the wheel is still useful in those instances! More pet speech! More death speech! More general (nothing in hand) speech! Etc let's do it!!!

you know if you live in north America you could go to GameStop Walmart or any other game store and pick up a mic so you can talk that way and if you don't want to then idk

Like I said I couldnt see the chat wheel at the time of making the post. The overall point was "the xbox wheel is limited so adding more options would make communication easier" lol if I pointed out speech that was already there then my mistake. But no one can argue that additional speech options is a bad thing lol

Oh a ping system would cure most of it! Great idea!!! Maybe add a ping to the telescope where it makes a light (similar to the rainbow thing that comes out of the reapers chest) that only your team can see!!! Oh the possibilities!

However in sea of theives there are multiple chat methods. One of the primary being XBOX PARTY CHAT which causes any pirate using it to become immediately deaf to any chatter in game. I could be standing right in front of someone trying to have a convo and they hear none of it.

On that some note the IN GAME CHAT doesnt always work. I have not been in xbox party and playing solo. The enemy pirate is using the megaphone to try and communicate and neither of us hear each other. Regardless on if it was user error or not...THATS WHAT THE WHEEL IS FOR

Some people unlike us who clearly all have mics..may not be so lucky. I met people who use their jobs internet to play because they cant get it at home. Others who had a headset but it broke, or dont have one at all cuz they have an old controller without the headphone port and cant afford to buy a new one. Again THIS IS WHAT THE WHEEL IS FOR so that people less fortunate then us can still communicate.

Speaking of less fortunate. What about people with hearing loss? I think it would be nice if those who literally cant use a headset due to a disability should have an easy time talking right?

There are tons of reasons why updating the xbox chat wheel is a good idea. Please dont dismiss things just because the idea doesnt apply to you.

Also to feed off my last response. A lot of the chatter is there but you are forced to shuffle through items on order to find the speech you are looking for. Adding more to the main wheel, multiple pages, the goal is the more speech the better! Right now the wheel is limited and clunky. It wouldnt hurt to stream line it a little. Add your own custom wheel of your favorite phrases. Have the main wheel be all your commonly used sayings. Have all the "main speech" over here .propose a voyage...follow me etc on the main wheel and add more fun ones to the items.

It's part of the main game communication it couldnt hurt to mix things up a bit!

Exactly! I have a mic so I dont use it often enough to memorize it lol I can typically find what I need but sometimes I'm like...telescope? No...watch?....no...compass? No...screw it lol OVER HERE OVER HERE Shoots gun lol

I love the idea of adding it to the maiden voyage! That makes a lot of sense!

I cant imagine updating the wheel would require a lot of work on rares part. Seems like a simple project in comparison lol and not everyone uses it but those who do will appreciate it!

Also on that note lol in game chat would also work lol even if I'm typing slower on xbox at least I can say what I want. PC can talk in game let xbox do it too lol I'll send xbox messages instead of the wheel sometimes lol

I agree it would be great to see more options in the chat wheel. It's hard sometimes to communicate effectively when you're trying to switch out various equipment or objects in your hands to get a certain chat wheel option that you want lol. I play on Xbox but for me personally, I found it easier to just enable the keyboard in the game for chat and just write out whatever message you want so that it appears on the screen for your crew (or anyone nearby) in the upper left of their screen. For instance, if I want to type out to my crew, "Do you guys want to stop and look at this shipwreck on our left, or go straight to the Outpost?", I'll just type it in the text chat for them to see on their screen instead of trying to figure out how to convey that through the chat wheel since it can feel kind of limited sometimes. 😅👍😊

I don't have a chat pad, but yes, I do use an onscreen keyboard lol.. 😅👍

It's actually a funny story, but I never knew that we could freely type chat from the Xbox until I accidentally stumbled onto the ability to enable the keyboard in the Settings one day, earlier last year. I enabled it and it's all I use now lol. It's a bit of a long story, but I connected my Xbox to my Xbox app on my phone so when I open the keyboard to type in SoT, it opens the virtual keyboard on my phone and I text it from there lol. I was playing a few weeks back with one of the nicest members to sail these forums ( @Ruigtand-NL ) and I mentioned it to him, and he didn't know you could do that, so he tried it as well and really liked it. We wrote about it on a post of his (I can't remember where the post was now, sorry) and a few other members took heed of it and tried it and loved it. One of them was the very nice @Venomous-Sloth7 and he actually made a post about it in the Guides + Tips section, I'll link it if you want to take a look. 🙂

It's now the only way I type and communicate in the game, really. I just thought I would mention it in case you have certain circumstances in the game and are struggling to communicate with the chat wheel. It's very useful and easy once you start using it. But I do still hope they add lots more sayings to the chat wheel, maybe even so that we can customize our chat wheel the same way that we can select which emotes to use and customize our emote wheels (pressing X to use multiple pages as well). 😊👍🌊🌴

Omg this is fantastic!! I primarily use voice but I have a crewmate that works from home and is CONSTANTLY on work calls. I wanna be like "grab the wheel" or "get the barrels!" Or "go look for a chest of wonders" but I cant cuz shes on the phone lol most of the time I swipe at her to get her attention then shoot where I want her to go and she will be like "!?" And just run off in the direction I shoot lol if I could type all my worries are gone!!!

You are my hero for bringing this up lol I'm going to try it when I get home from work today lol

I'm still an advocate for updating the wheel but mannn if I can type in game I'll be so happy 🤣

I wish I could remember that original thread that we were talking about this in and I just happened to mention how I used to think that you could only use the text chat in the game to type freely if you had a regular keyboard and were playing on PC. I was only using the chat wheel for the first 1.5 years on SoT, just saying "Ahoy!" or "Aye" etc, lol. Then one day I was in the Wilds and it was so dark and murky, so I was looking in the Settings to see if I could adjust the brightness and I stumbled upon the option to enable the keyboard! There were a few other members here, along with some SoT friends of mine on Xbox Live, that are long-time players of the game and PL10's, and they never knew they could use a keyboard to type whatever they want in the game (from Xbox) either. To be honest, I think a lot of players on Xbox still don't realize this... 😬😅🙇‍♀️👍

I've never looked back since and now I use it all the time. As you can imagine, it's made it sooo much better not only to communicate with your crew if you're not in party chat, but also with other crews that you happen upon. 😄👍 And like in your example where you're playing with a friend but they are on work calls, it would be perfect so you can type what you want! 👏🎈

I'm with you, I'm still an advocate for updating the wheel too, but I just figured I'd mention it because I have yet to mention the keyboard to another Xbox player and find that they already knew about it and use it. I am also a first year legend, just got the "legend of the sea of theives" title for sinking 500 skelle ships as a legend...been in the game since almost day one and had no idea that was there 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that woulda been nice to know when I ran into one of the developers on the sea the other day and the in game talking wasnt working ha ha ha we ended up fighting over a skull fort cuz he jumped me thinking I was part of another crew (the crew I sunk lol) we were in an alliance but my crew likes to drop me off at a skull fort with a row boat and leave me to it so I didnt have my boat to identify me lol

Thank you thank you thank you for showing me tho lol I'm not gunna lie I used it more then speaking today cuz I was so excited to use it lol

I've learned quite s few things in this forum but this by far trump's everythingggggggggg!!!!!

Wow, you've been playing a long time too and this seems to be way too common for long time players, it's crazy lol! You're nearly the 10th person now that I've told that to (all long time players like you) and nobody knew. It's like a hidden little feature in the Settings and I don't think it's ever been advertized or passed around enough to be common knowledge lol. I played for over a year myself, and only used the basic things on the chat wheel and I can't tell you how many times the keyboard would have come in handy in all that time lol. 🤔😩😅

If only we had this conversation a few days sooner so you could have used it when you ran into one of the Developers, aahhhhh lol. 😮🙆‍♀️🤸‍♀️😭 It would be great to see this mentioned on a large scale by SoT, just as a 'reminder' to Xbox players that they have this option to enable a keyboard for much better communication in the game because I think the vast majority have no idea and aren't taking advantage of it. It's all I use now too lol! I don't really use voice chat in the game, only in my own party with my crew if necessary, but I actually prefer to use the keyboard and text chat this way now lol. It's the biggest thing that's helped me in the game too, and I still laugh that I stumbled upon it by accident after like a year and a half of playing lol! 🤔😂👍👏😋🌊

Yes, definitely spread the word on the Seas! Let everyone know! I've been doing this on the forums and with friends I play with and none of them knew, but all of them are using it now and love it! Just last night, I was playing on a galleon with 3 friends (2 on Xbox and 1 on PC) and the 3 of us on Xbox were chatting like crazy in the text chat lol. 😂👍

After playing some Adventure last night, the four of us tried an Arena match and I was using the text chat to write out to everyone in the Lobby to get to the hot tub lol! 🤭🙆‍♀️🛀 I was trying to get one person from each crew into the hot tub for the "Hot Tub Crime Machine" achievement, but the yellow crew was afk and didn't move or come in lol. But, by writing, "Everyone to the hot tub! We need one person from each crew in the hot tub!" it helped so much because most other people actually did it and we had the hot tub crammed full of people lol. This was a perfect example of where the keyboard was so helpful because I don't think I could have communicated that through the chat wheel! I'll try that again the next time I try Arena lol... We didn't quite get that one, but I did get all of us on stage to play our instruments last night so we got the "Rum 'n' Bass" achievement lol. I love using the keyboard!!👏😄🪕🥁🎶

I could not agree more, this absolutely needs to be communicated more, like you said in the Maiden Voyage or I've said before, maybe in the weekly updates that Joe Neate does, or on their Twitter/Insta etc. It's the best thing ever, and nobody knows about it! I think the keyboard should be enabled by default too, instead of being disabled where you kind of have to know about it and go into the Settings to enable it. I'm so glad I mentioned it to you as I almost didn't because I didn't mean to take away from the original suggestion about expanding the chat wheel lol. 👍But, it does help, so I'm glad it's helped you and I guess it's good I did mention it lol! Yay!

So I'm thinking..

Maiden voyage addition that teaches you to speak with chat and wheel.

Prompt when you start the game (only once) that says "in game keyboard deactivated would you like to activate it?" Or "in game keyboard activated by pressing button, to deactivate go into the settings"

Additional wheel options...

Main wheel should have multiple pages. Main (page 1) should be favorites..the phrases you use the most often. Past that you can quickly scroll through page 2,3,4 etc quickly finding what you want.

When using items should have multiple pages too lol literally the more options the better! Flood the wheels with chatter!!!

"Ooo shiny!"
"Mermaid in the water!"
"I died from lighting"
"I was too close to a volcano!"
"That was a farther drop then I thought!"
"Come here"
"Drop the anchor!"
"A pirate killed me, he killed me with a sword, how weird is that" (firefly)

literally make the main wheel the important chatter and make the items half and half lol half important communication and the other half goofy phrases!

For the record I already found a chest of wonders and took a screenshot so I'm happy! I meant to record it but my goofy self was freaking out and beelined it straight the the outpost going "omgomgomg" the whole way and forgot lol so the next one I come across is all yours ha ha! I've seen one chest of wonder, two ancient skelle, and no ghost meg. So if I find any I will be thinking about getting you in on it immediately as payback!

I will happily add you after work today! That will make it wayyyyy easier to be like OH MY GOD I FOUND A CHEST OF WONDER GET IN HERE!! ha ha!

I love those suggestions when you start the Maiden Voyage! Yes, we need something like this! This is a huge and important suggestion and I hope that Rare notices this lol. It would help so many active players and would improve the quality of the game tenfold for them! It certainly has for me. 👏😊🎉

That would be perfect if, when you first start the game, you get a message that says what you described ("In game keyboard deactivated, would you like to activate it?" etc). Now that I know about it, I can't imagine why this wasn't added into the game in some way from the original release..🤔🤷‍♀️😩👍😅

I could give 50 examples of when this keyboard feature has helped so much in the game, or prevented fights, or helped to get things done successfully with other crews and we even became good friends out of it in the end! Not to mention how easy it is to communicate constantly and say anything you need to say, at any given time, to your own crew lol. 😎👌✍

The main chat wheel should definitely have tons and tons of options and be fully customizable and have multiple pages too, just like how the emote wheel has been expanded upon and made customizable! Just for those who may know about the keyboard but prefer to use the chat wheel anyway. I'd love to see 100 chat options available, or even more. Like you said, flood the wheels with chatter lol! It can only make the game more fun and interactive and even funny as you'll get more unique interactions every time you roll up near another ship on the Seas! Those examples are great, especially the Firefly reference!! 😄👏🌊🤝💬

Wow though, well thank you so much if you do find a second Chest of Wonder! Congrats on finding one to begin with! 😵😄🙌🎉 I haven't found one yet, but I admit I do need to spend more time in Mordor (as @Ruigtand-NL called it, and now it's what I call the Devil's Roar, so all credit to him as I love it lol😂🔥👏🌋). I'm still keeping an eye out for one, and I haven't seen any Shrouded Ghosts either, and only one Ancient skelly lol. But thanks sooooo much, you absolutely don't have to do anything as I am just happy to help haha... But... Well.. Ok if you ever find another Chest of Wonders or the mythical Shrouded Ghost... and you have an open spot on your crew...
