Private islands

  • A private island a place that you can customise and build, place trophies and didplay your boats. It will basically be your home base. To get to it you will have to sail to the edge of the map where you will enter a loading screen and will be transported into your own private server, where your private island is. You can buy different sized islands for your island and can buyor build different houses and docks that you can customise. You can invite friends there to show off your home and can even play mini games like hide and seek or watever you can imagine. You can also invite people there just to brag as you will be able to place trophies that are aquired from completing commondations and will also be able to show off your ships at your dock.

  • I can imagine people using it to create fun mini games or little parkour courses. Anyways i would love it if something like this came to the game cause i absolutely love working for things and unlocking things that i can brag about/show off, like commondations. having my own home that i built would be awsome aswell as being able to place meg jaws or kraken tentacles in there as trophies, having your own bar or watever you want would be cool. I just love the idea of being able to get creative and build something. What do you guys think?

  • @d4m0r3d I don't think you should be able to sail to it from the main world. People will use it as a flee location.

I wouldn't mind if you can have your own private lobby let's say at the start, where you have an island with upgrades, cosmetics and own design where you can start your party, invite your buddies, chill out, pick a ship and sail out of to then be loaded into the game with the ship cosmetics already applied to the ship.

  • This is not this kind of game.
    Maybe you should try Atlas.

  • @cotu42 I had a similar idea to this a long time ago as part of the reward for pirate legend you basically start in a private instance of the PL area once you reach pirate legend where you can customise the décor etc. before heading out into the game, its nothing really significant but its a nice little addition for those who need an excuse to spend their money. I like your Idea of also making this a party starting lobby too.

  • Wheres your imagination people!??
At the very least we should be able to do rearranging/trophies in the captains cabin.

  • Also thinking about it, I believe they were gonna make it possible to name your ship and have it displayed above the captains door. tho not sure if that was ever officially confirmed.

  • Sounds similar to what they done in WoW with you’re own base . Wasn’t a fan tbh

  • @cotu42 yea exactly, although i dont think you should be able to bring treausre to your island cause yea otherwise people will use it to flee, maybe the lore can be that the a curse was placed in those waters that didnt allow any treasure past or maybe the waters are so rough thst it just gets lost in the ocean

  • @targasbr no ew atlas is terrible, i dont like atlas, this idea is closer to gta,

  • @targasbr and why do you say this is not the kind of game, idk if you understand, its not gonna be like ok go farm trees hit some rocks and start crafting stone foundations its more like gta, only you are growing your pirate kingdom, to the point where you own your own island

  • @nulskills that would be cool, but maybe they decided not to do it since your ship resets everytime you log off, or maybe they were affraid of what people would name thier ships

I get it, and it still does not make sense for the purpose of this game. I would like to see the feature? Yes, but it does not make sense for this particular game.

I think this may of been an issue there are ways around it, also tbh I imagine its low down on their list of priorities anyway :D

  • @aglasgowthing well its not like you lose anything from it aye, like would you want it not to be in the game? The way i see it is that even if it is in the game i dont see how it could upset other players or be negative at all

  • @targasbr how doesnt it? Tell us how it doesnt dont just say it doesnt please

    • This is a Shared World game
    • This is NOT a construction game

    Simple...

Again, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS FEATURE, but it does not fit the game.

  • @nulskills yea but i dont imagine it being hard to implement, naming your ship sounds like a pretty important thing in a game based around ships but then again i guess you can already do that without having it written on captains quarters

Exactly this combined with the fact the ship only lasts for the session, its a little thing that would be nice but its just not high up there on my 'I would like to have" list

  • @targasbr i dunno what you mean by a shared world game, and can i ask you if you ever played gta 5. In gta 5 you can buy houses, my idea is basically that only cooler imo. and is there any reason why the game cant be a shared world game? I reckon it fits the game pretty well, i dont see what would be wrong with it so your gonna have to explain it to me

This is not GTA. This is a new type of game. This is not a construction or RPG game.
You cannot own a island, because this game is a shared world. Nothing in this game (except your clothes, weapons, etc) is really yours. Not even the ship is yours.

    About Sea of Thieves:
"Exotic islands. Hidden treasures. Riddles, battles and shanties. The essential pirate experience.
Sea of Thieves is a NEW TYPE OF MULTIPLAYER GAME that delivers all you need to live the free-roaming pirate life. Whether adventuring as a group or sailing solo, you'll encounter other crews... but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?
    " - Source HERE

  • @targasbr it is an rpg game and why does it matter if everything is shared at the moment, even though thats not even true but even if it was why would that matter, owning an island still fits the theme of a pirate game, you will own it and it will be yours, if you want they could even do evernts where your island is open for anyone to attack and so you need to go defend it. When players attack it they can steal your gold wich you will actually lose, ofcoarse this even ccan only happen when you are online and will be a rare event.

  • @d4m0r3d This is not a RTS or Tower Defense game...

  • @targasbr lol you are a funny bloke, stop comparing it to other games, im not saying it is a tower defense game, just because it takes one aspect from other games doesnt completely reshape the game, if they added the ability to have private islands, thst you could defend, the game would not be a tower defense game its still the same game. And if you are gonna make that comprison what even is the difference from defending your private island to you defending your ship or you defending a skelly ship. Its a pvp game defense js a part of pvp

  • @targasbr and btw you know the devs already basically confirmed private servers, its not 100% confirmed but i believe during a dev stream one dev said they liked the idea and all they had to do was figure out how to do it. So the world will still be shared its just some people will be sharing it with people they want to share it with. Think of the private island like that, it doesnt stop the sea of thieves world from being a shared world, its simply its own place, its like owning your own ship. Players on a dif server dont get to experience your ship do they. Do yu know what i mean? Oh and i think cross platform will be an option now, but anyways this shared world isnt shared by everyone there are only 6 ships per server. Think of the private island as the place in the menu where you click set sail only its cool and customised cause you created it and are able to actually explore it

  • @d4m0r3d And if you are gonna make that comprison what even is the difference from defending your private island to you defending your ship or you defending a skelly ship. Its a pvp game defense js a part of pvp

You compared with GTA, I'm saying this is a unique game...

This game is made to SAIL, so, defend your island is not part of the game's proposal.

Everything in SoT is there for a reason, be it painting on a rock or a bonfire on an island. Having a home will not change anything in the game, it's just an unnecessary feature. There is no trophy to be shown, and minigames on private servers do not make sense, and they can be placed for everyone to play on a large island, for example. A social, shared island makes sense.

Also, SoT is not a PvP game.

  • Maybe you can even store supplies on your island like bannanas and planks, and with the private islands your ships wouldnt reset everytime you log off, it would make sense lore wise instead of your ship just teleporting into existence, rn its like we have an endless supply of ships that we constantly re apple paints to lol you know what i mean

  • me home is on the sea in me sloop John B.

  • So how would you prevent someone from avoiding getting sunk by simply just traveling off the screen?

  • @d4m0r3d disse em Private islands:

This would definitely unbalance the game and end the horizontal progression proposal. It's the same problem of buying or saving supplies on the boat for future departures.

  • @targasbr i personally dont have a problem with people being able to buy supplies or anything that gives you an advantage like a better gun, aslong as everyone has access to getting it. But yea yea we dont need to be able to store planks on your private island, i just thought it would be cool

  • @ontheminute if they have any loot the loot gets dropped into the water, it would be like if someone sailed into the red sea only they dont sink they just vanish although i think when people sail into the red sea all the loot disaapears aswell so maybe just do that, it woul just work the same way as the edge of the map does now only instead of watching your ship sink you teleport to your private island. Your private island doesnt even need to be accessible by sailing through the edge of the map i just thought it would be cool, like they could make it seemless like atlas does when you transition servers only fog appears or something and then you travel through it and thats basically the losding screen. But it doesnt need to be that way, it could simply be a place you can go in the menu where you click go to private island or watever and there you go you are there, while you are there you can paint select your ship, and get ready to set sail or you can chill at your place and admire its beauty

  • @d4m0r3d disse em Private islands:

I do not have a problem with that, either. I'm A10, I have enough money to spend on these things. But I'm not the only player. Every day new players come to the game.

Try to put yourself in their shoes, imagine you starting the first time right now. "Oh, a skull cloud! I'll see what's in there!" You arrive at the fort, it takes about 30 minutes and it's almost over. In the distance, an A10 gets closer and closer. He spent a good few hours guarding resources on his private island and now much of his resources are on his ship. What are your chances? You lost your ship and all the fort loot. The guy who attacked you had more experience and more firepower...

I would rather be able to put 100 cannons on my galleon, I would like to have a huge island with a castle, I would like to buy resources to stock, I would like a lot. But it's not just me playing this game. The progression is horizontal, so everything that will give me advantage needs to be thought out.

  • @ontheminute the lore could even be that there are these spirits who guide you there but they take everything on your ship as payment, you never see them cause the fog that appears as you travel there is so thick they are fog spirits or something idk

  • @targasbr honestly if its between a noob and an og the noobs gonna lose even if the og has less rescources but yea if it was two players who were even in pvp the team with more rescources has a leg up, especially when it comes to cursed cannon ballls and stuff like that
