Gold returns diminished

    My friends and I completed a skullfort last night and only got approx 2500 gold for the stronghold chest vs the usual 4000

    Also all other gold returns were diminishes... stronghold skull was less than 1k, captains chest was less than 1k... w*f?

    Searched forums and am not seeing any information on diminishing gold returns

    Anyone else experienced this?

    EDIT: As of the most recent two patches I've seen stronghold chests as low as 1900 gold and stronghold skulls as low 2000ish gold... unsure if rep has been affected...

    Nah, they want to 100% make sure nobody reaches legendary before 2019.

    Sounds like it could have changed with the recent patch. I'd gotten around 4k off of stronghold skulls before.

    In all fairness, it shouldn't be so that one activity is so much more profitable then any other. When people hop sessions to clear Skull Forts, you know something isn't as it should be.

    Not saying they should nerf Forts, they could buff everything else instead. But seeing as their aim is to prolong everything, I doubt they'll do that.

    @eph1zul Agreed, but still doesn't make up for lowering prices on those rewards...
    Have you ever tried to solo those forts with a 2 man sloop?
    It's not even worth it with the prices on the loot there now..
    I noticed the same thing, prices went from 3k -4.5k in my experience, to what's mentioned above..
    I almost had the same amount of money I can get for a golden skull from order of souls as I did for the stronghold skull.

    @eph1zul Forts generally should be more profitable, though, since they take much more effort to complete than the basic voyages. I do agree that server hopping for them isn't the way to go about it, though.

    @orbisinfinitus I think the forts do give too much compared to voyages.
    It takes me and my brother about 20-30 minutes to clear a fort in a sloop. Most groups just dont know how to do the forts. You are supposed to use your ships cannons to clear the waves. Set your ship at a close range where you target a fence line or wall that the skeletons are forced to go in front of to catch the player kiting them there, then just shoot the fence,wall,rock and destroy the wave in 1-3 cannoballs, rinse and repeat.

    What i find the most annoying is the rarity of forts now, it takes longer time to find a fort than it does to do them.

    If im after coin the fastest coin is actually through merchant missions. Have someone whos never bought any rank up, and run as many gold chicken voyages as you can by canceling and getting crates and only collect every gold chicken you find, then just sail back and forth from outpost to outpost delivering lots of gold chickens. Its faster gold than skull forts and not as much downtime.

    everything you sell to the factions has a rng roll. got 1784g for a gold snake yesterday, and few days back it was 1163g. it happens

    Have definitely noticed it, in addition to not having seen even one Thousand Grogs or Sorrows chest yet.

    Though we did turn in an Exquisite Spice crate and got 1,400+g for it. That was a nice boost!

    @radjinwolf ran into a chest of sorrows once, but they did make the value much better than in the betas. It's worth around 1.2k now.

    @wkd1337 Yes we do. A Friend of mine and me are seeing this as we do our daily evening gold-diggin... changed the missions, didn't help. But we also cash in cpt chests for 600 gold. A grog chest for under 1k... you name it... everything lost a lot in value.
    And we are at level 40 missions, digging up mostly seafarers.

    We took two days off and on my single run yesterday i got 2 cpt chests, 3 marauder and just 1 seafarer...
    Cashed in cpt for round about 1k again... figured

    This seems to be the case after last weeks update.

    My assumption is they nerfed the payouts across the board to slow people down from reaching legend. As it's clear more and more people are reaching legend quicker than they anticipated.

    The ninja nerf is real and disheartening.

    Since I've posted this, and two/three patches later... I can confirm most rewards for all activities have been diminished across the board... save for merchant gold animals... cause no one does that anyway :P

    Dont get me wrong, I occasionally will merchant sloop/galleon with my friends just quickly getting gold animal turn ins... mostly for the rep at this point...

    I've also noticed Skullforts as low as 8k/9k turn in now which is as of the most recent patch.

    But that doesnt mean you're wrong either.

    Not hate. Just passion about things I care about. Imagine how awesome this game would have been had Rare put 1/3 of it's marketing budget into the programming side. same can be said about pretty much any major company these days. Marketing first, everything else secondary.

    This thread here I think I posted towards the end of week 2... I have no idea which forum necromancer came along and raised this thing from the dead.

    Fort i did last night besides the stronghold chest and skull, had a seafarers chest, a crate of tea, three disgraced skulls, and.... that was it.

    People think its nothing because its "purely cosmetic", but if the upcoming microtransactions including being able to straight up buy gold.. then yeah all the loot value is going to drop drastically to force more people to want to just pay for it instead..I could be totally wrong but it seems like we are slowly being weaned down before that happens..

    I also think when the premium store drops gold will be for sale, it makes the "death tax" more relevant.

    @rdizz yeah, I'm noticing that they've severely nerfed the chest values again, within the past few updates.

    @wkd1337 i did three strongoholds and the maximum grand total we got with some gunpowder included was 13k. last week we got almos 21k out of a fort...

    I still not sure that chests have actually lost value cause i fell the 1000grogs cehst as somewhat increased in value...
