@seriouslyslyguy jumping Should interrupt eating the banana. Making it impossible to use this tactic on console and PC.
It is a cheese tactic anyway. Made worse that it just ads to the advantage PC players have to console players.
You use the word should. Why? Give reasons. I can put a banana in my mouth right now and jump. Why should it be cancelled?
You can’t eat a banana while jumping in circles uninterrupted. You will begin to just half a*s one or the other.
Assumptions. Do you have any indisputable facts?
Dude jumping anywhere near the height in game requires using the whole body, arms included. You can’t maintain that while shoving a banana in your face.
And the idea that we should be able to do it in game because we can kind of sort of barely do something similar in real life is flat stupid.
If you think the banana and jumping mechanic should be “realistic” then eating a banana should not heal bullet wounds.
Besides jumping in FPS has always been a cheese mechanic in every FPS. I served more than 20 years in the military and tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Running around jumping up and down does not make someone more effective in combat.
Besides, the cheese mechanic creates an additional and avoidable advantage between PC and console. That is enough reason alone to fix it. Console gamers are unlikely to switch to PC to play Sea of Thieves if PC gamers over console advantage is not mitigated at least in some ways we will just lose console gamers that like competitive PVP games. There are plenty of other options.
I didn't say that we should be able to do it in the game because it can be done in life. I worded it like that because the OP says "I tried it and it was difficult to accomplish" as if jumping and eating a banana can't be done.
As far as your military service, it's irrelevant. If you were able to maintain accuracy, not fatigue yourself, and move faster because of it, you can bet that people would be trained to jump around in combat. The fact is that jumping in this scenario does give you an advantage, as it does in almost every game, and there's really not a reason to refrain from it.
Finally, in regards to pc advantages. You're flat out wrong. I play on console and changing this would also remove any advantages that I have over people who are too dumb or disinclined to use the game mechanics in whatever way is effective. Do you really think that you can't jump and look and eat a banana on console? Even without special controllers, you can just use the claw. Furthermore, there are no console gamers who like competitive pvp games because those games don't exist on console. Putting competitive in front of the phrase "console game "is like putting competitive in front of the phrase "child on a tricycle". It doesn't matter how amazingly the child rides. You can't be competitive with that hardware.
