Any idea on the mystical side of SoT?

  • I mean i read somewhere about potions, so i'm assuming they are okay with magical like effects, not to mention the glowing maps and bounties xD.
but does anyone have and ideas or thoughts about how they are planning on taking this? suggestions for stuff they could add are okay too.

Personally i would like to see a Company focused around finding and collecting Rune scrolls or something, maybe this company wouldn't be about gathering gold, but collecting magical scrolls, to keep it balanced/ish you could only carry one scroll at a time. an example of a Rune scroll could be something like Scroll of Gushing Water
the effect is a short burst of water to push players or even ships out of the way can also be used to fill an enemy ships hold with water :P.

  • @jack-littleshoe Ahoy there!

The recent press embargo lift has revealed the following news on potions front...

Beyond that, Rare's looking to include potions that can alter you cosmetically - like a draught that turns your character model old for a certain amount of time. The mission statement is that microtransaction items have "emotional value, not mechanical value."

What would you like to see in terms of potions/transformations?

You're basically describing the Order of Souls but just replace scrolls with skulls.

uhhh not really if you read the post you would see that you wouldn't be selling the skulls/scrolls for gold but keeping them for effects...

    ohh...thats rather disappointing... i guess a potion to turn into a merman/mermaid?

  • @jack-littleshoe I did read your post. Minus having some random effects on them, which skulls might in the full game we don't know yet, it sounds just like the Order of Souls. The potion seller is part of the Order of Souls as well.

so you read it huh? obviously not, as the Order of souls purpose is to collect skulls and sell them for money

The Order of scrolls would be about collect scrolls with magical effects that you can then use as a sort of pseudo "Magic spell"

  • @jack-littleshoe the Order of Souls is the obvious mystical force in this world. The undead Pirate Captains, the other skellies', mystical forces behind them. The Ferry of the Damned no doubts some magic there. Then of course the talk of potions in the future... But ...

What about that Legendary Pirate Hideout? Populated by the ghosts of other pirates. Perhaps when you become a legend, a whole new experience opens up. Maybe your adventures become more mystical in purpose. Think like the 9 pieces of eight for the Pirate Lords in PotC, or Jack's Compass, Davy Jones heart in a Chest, so and so forth. Would be cool as a legend that your quests send you after these sorts of things, because mere treasure chests are now beneath you! Fun to imagine!

  • @jack-littleshoe Welp I guess I'm done here. I've gotten over talking to rude people on the forums now. Have fun with your thread.

how was i rude? i was just trying to correct your misplaced opinion that it was the exact same thing as the Order of souls
