PVE mode (safe seas) are the something best so far in the SOT

  • First, thank you Rare for giving us PVE mode of this game.

Safe Seas are the blast! I liked SOT and played a lot with my friends, but last two years we stopped completely, we decided to give it a try again with safe seas and we couldn't stop playing it! Not that all my crew and friends returned we even managed to drag a lot of new people to play with us who previously didn't even want to touch this game because of pvp.

The gameplay was somehow magical. Not tension at all like before was! Slowly drifting through seas from island to island, stop where you want, enjoy in music, and ambient, scenery, try new costumes, ship look, try voyages, telltales, underwater content, explore fully whole map, fish, basically everything like before we did but now one big change, NO TENSION. Before everything we do was some how "fast" and in "hurry" so you can escape and hide from others, constantly on some "fear", now its so chilling and relaxing like never before, just sail and enjoy! I dont like that a lot of things are reduced but i understand the logic behind it. To sum it, safe seas are 10/10, i will never again return to high seas ever and now im even more willing to buy costumes from cash shop since gold is reduced in safe seas and i will not play in high seas to earn enough to buy it so cash shop is the only option.

  • Yeah, it's the first time in years I've actually just set off to do something and allow myself get distracted by random stuff in years. I set off to do a vault, found a captain on a small island so stopped to kill him and dig up his treasure. Set off, a meg spawned so I stopped to fight that, then an Ashen tornado spawned so I got sidetracked with that. One thing led to another and I never got around to the vault lol

I like the sentiment of your thread and think supporting the game through the emporium is a good thing. I wouldn't get discouraged by the gold earning in safer seas. A lot of my gold was made before emissaries and bonuses and when gold was low and effort requirement was high.

It's all about consistency. It adds up over time. It might take a while and it might not feel like much gold for a while but it adds up with consistency. Just keep at it and don't worry too much about the nerfs and you'll get there.

Wow. You've described 70% of my high seas sessions lol.

Server location or maybe time of day being a factor ? I have seen many streamers play on EU servers for a reason. I am not sure if they tailored their play times to a specific one or not as that could have a variety of factors leading to that.

  • @sairdontis

I'm in Florida. I play between 6p and 2a. Solo sloop

Ok, more factors and settings involved as stated before, but you know that and chose to ignore it . Cheers.

  • @pithyrumble 70%?!?! That low?!?!

I feel my crew NEVER gets the original task done...

  • @sairdontis

My personal attitude and expectations about the game too.
My SoT experience is apparently vastly different lol

  • Glad to see you changed your mind!

with safe sea i will probably download again and try it but since a lot of things are nerfed i dont have to much desire to play it again. Sea of Thieves is very grindy game like no one other and no matter what you want to do you will need at least one 1-3 hours of play to finish the play and see progress, with safe sea where everything is reduced its just not worth it to play it, you will just lose your time. Its nice to play from time to time to chill in safe seas and explore but that will very fast become boring because you will have no normal progress so at the end many players will return to same, uninstall the game and play something more pve friendly.

  • Honestly, I am extremely happy with Safer Seas. I accept the gold rediction because honestly there will be a point where I may have tons of gold amd nothing to spend it on. So I am truly happy with what I got. I don't have to worry about other players approaching just to sink my ship because they can't stand looking at my sloop alone.

I can finally explore Old Faithful Isle, Plunder Valley, Discovery Ridge, Thieves Haven and Devil's Ridge without having to return to the beach and check the horizon every 30 seconds. I can finally pay attention to what the NPCs say during the tall tales without hasting my leave because I'm no longer vulnerable. I can explore the Sunken Kingdom and appreciate it once again. I can finally check Ashen Winds and other stuff that I usually avoided. I can do the tall tales and finally understand the lore of what am I doing to complete the Shroudbreaker.

I am really happy because I can go and take a few screenshots, roleplay in the bar, and don't have to worry about other players. Even sailing again for the sake of sailing feels so refreshing to me and I am so glad I can play at my own pace and have fun in my own way.

I am really happy with this. I haven't posted in the forums because I've been busy enjoying Sea of Thieves in my own way in Safer Seas.

For me the missing Tension makes the game boring but it´s great we both get what we like.
