If you are just gaming and browsing, 16gb if just fine, hell im doing 3D and video editing work on the side with only 16gb. I also stream.
I have browsers open and no games being run obviously when working.
I could benefit from 32gb ram if I greeded and had 50+ browser tabs and a bunch of other applications open, but im kinda clean in the sense I close down tabs/apps I no longer need/use in the moment.
64gb is really just overkill unless your big into producing large files/working.
a few years back 8gb was optimal for the average gamers/user, now its 16gb. in 5-10 years time that could bump up to 32gb when hardware alongside increases in performance.
Don't get me wrong 32gb is great, but you probably wont be using more then 16gb if your just browsing/video games.
As for quick reference, im have Discord, 3D software with a medium sized fill open, operaGX (Over chrome) and a few background apps open and its only using 52% of my 16gb of ram installed, so just over 8gb of ram in use right now.
I mentioned operaGX browser because chrome chugs so much ram its not even funny.
that being said ram is cheap, so why not got for 32gb. it gives your laptop more breathing room.
