  • My laptop has lower specs on everything and it runs on that...

  • Well, if you've already ordered the PC, and you already have the game, then simply install it and try it for yourself. That way you'll get the answer first hand. :)

  • @pumpa-cat I haven't got it yet.

  • Yes, easily.

No, but I assumed you have already ordered it and that it's on the way to you. Apologies if that's not the case and you were simply considering a PC with those specs.

It sounds like a nice PC. I have an RTX 2060 in mine, with an i9-10900k (3.7 Ghz) processor and 32Gb DDR4 RAM. It plays heavy graphics games such as FS2020 with ease (I play SoT on my XsX). Therefore I believe your intended PC will render SoT wth no issues whatsoever.

  • @pumpa-cat Ok thanks. When deciding the RAM y'know my dad said I need 64GB RAM the PC guy I spoke to said there is no reason to need that much RAM. But I'm glad I'm making a great choice in a laptop of all things.

I'd agree with the PC guy. I have an old gaming laptop that has a GTX (I think) 970 nVidia graphics card, and I had 64Gb RAM installed on that. In hinsight I feel that was a bit excessive. To be honest I think that 32 Gb is plenty, and that 64 and above would probably only be helpful to those who do a lot of heavy video editing.

  • @maskakatsuki

You would only ever need that much ram if you were rendering professionaly.

  • @maskakatsuki would run it easily

PC guy correct, I've just increased from 16 - 32 with not that much perceivable difference tbh. Not like going from a spinny drive to SSD, RAM is rarely the bottleneck unless you're a miser.

i9 and RTX 2070 here btw you showoff :-)

  • Yeah 32gb is great and probably excessive for an "average" user or even gamer, really. I put two 16's in (i7 2080) and it's really little difference, even if I stream and/or have lots of background stuff going it was acceptable with 16.

  • in my experience as someone that plays on a laptop the most important part comes down to not letting it get too heated

your specs are plenty good enough

I keep mine propped up on the corners for good air, I keep a little fan in the area just to keep air moving and I have my internal fans run at max

keeping it cool and good air circulation makes a big difference

I get dust and buildup outta there every few weeks

  • If you are just gaming and browsing, 16gb if just fine, hell im doing 3D and video editing work on the side with only 16gb. I also stream.
I have browsers open and no games being run obviously when working.
I could benefit from 32gb ram if I greeded and had 50+ browser tabs and a bunch of other applications open, but im kinda clean in the sense I close down tabs/apps I no longer need/use in the moment.

64gb is really just overkill unless your big into producing large files/working.

a few years back 8gb was optimal for the average gamers/user, now its 16gb. in 5-10 years time that could bump up to 32gb when hardware alongside increases in performance.
Don't get me wrong 32gb is great, but you probably wont be using more then 16gb if your just browsing/video games.
As for quick reference, im have Discord, 3D software with a medium sized fill open, operaGX (Over chrome) and a few background apps open and its only using 52% of my 16gb of ram installed, so just over 8gb of ram in use right now.

I mentioned operaGX browser because chrome chugs so much ram its not even funny.

that being said ram is cheap, so why not got for 32gb. it gives your laptop more breathing room.
