Let me just start off by saying how awesome this update is, PVP on demand is a dream come true. Not only does it satisfy the PVP crowd it also satisfies the PVE people that just want to grind. However, there are some problems.
Mainly it's matchmaking times, I'm not a developer at Rare so I'm not going to pretend to know what is causing the long matching times. It could be anything from the servers being wonky, bugs, too strict SBMM, region lock, or simply not enough players.
As an invading player, I have often found myself waiting 30+ min plus in the underwater tunnel for nothing to happen, and I can only see it getting worse over time.
Our time is valuable and it should be respected if the matchmaking times can't be fixed because of external factors (not enough players) then they should change how the searching for opponents works.
I personally believe the ship should only dive once it has actually found a match, once it has found a match, your ship and crew will be sailing underwater for 30 sec - 1 min so you can prepare yourself then you will break to the surface and start your match.
Obviously to dive your ship needs to be in the open sea so when the game has found a match, a prompt on the screen should appear telling the players it's ready to dive, you could also add a pulsing effect to the ship for when it's ready.
I also think the loot you have gathered should stay with the ship when you dive, I'm not sure if this is possible to do, seeing how the game is set up with the portals and everything but if it is possible I would consider enabling it. This would encourage people to actually carry loot and the defending team could get a little bit more of a reward if they manage to sink the invaders.
The reputation gain seems to be a little bit too slow at the moment, especially for defending teams, consider increasing it.
