Private Realms

  • I think a really neat idea would be a solo mode. this mode would have ONLY 2 functions. function one is it would give you an AI filled world, there are no players in this lobby. however, because of this, there is also NO way to get loot in this mode (this would be to avoid 50% of the player base using it to avoid the actual point of this game. the ENTIRE purpose of this purposed solo mode is to help players get used to the game more so than the maiden voyage will. it can also allow you to spawn ships to practice fighting. I think adding a mode for practice will be a big help to many, especially YouTubers who just want some b-roll or people who just want to sail with no real aim or purpose other than to ride along the waves.

apologies if there are duplicate tags, took me a minute to realize how adding them worked

EDIT: what i want would be similar to this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P7dxstP9LZc thanks to one of the other commenters who showed me this. the second half of this video describes what i want and why

Why not just practise by playing the game, sure you'll die a lot in the beginning but you'll learn a lot faster..

I can go an entire session sometimes without seeing another player ship depending what I'm doing anyway..

  • @tardis1211
Another one post and done pirate wonder.

No. This has been asked for many times, and the devs have said no to it each and every time it has been asked for.

  • @wagstr I completely agree. AI is only good for memorizing patterns that AI ships do.

People think learning from AI will help, but all it would do is make players that cannot think how to fight or create new strategies. Then you would have people screaming if they can add AI why cant they have private servers or PVE only servers etc.

  • @wagstr im not saying you CANT do that, but i just figured this would offer another alternative :p sometimes the anxiety of people bothering me when i just want to relax is pretty annoying as well.

  • @tardis1211

You wouldn't be doing yourself any favours you know...

Just go somewhere well away from skelly forts or any kind of flashy lights in general and it's normally quieter. Just keep your eyes peeled.

  • @supersnipper60 atleast this time it wasnt for pve with loot. They are basically asking for content creator servers and a place to practice without loot.

  • It’s an idea. Maybe an maidian voyage addon. Combat related to help teach you the small basic of ship combat and skeleton combat

After all, skeletons AI is built around player data and how we go about. (If I recall dev quoting that in a vid)

  • @burnbacon

Extending the maiden voyage to let you sail round the map would work with skelly ships and the odd meg. It wouldn’t half get dull after a bit though... Just play the game fgs!

honestly pve with loot sounds like it'd just ruin the whole game for literally anyone, and whoever suggested it is just too afraid to play the game XD

no this won't help you infact this will only help you pick up bad habbits

i used to play a game called "For honor"

i used to play it competetively against other high skilled players

i wanted to rack up some more reputation and doing ai matches was the fastest as the A.I lack the function called "learning and adapting" so they usually just follow the same pattern they were programmed to follow while having mixed rng if they should block strike or dodge

but usually very easy to figure out

after many ai matches i went on back to play comp 1v1's about a week later

ended up facing someone i reguraly meet and i usually kick the ever living fluffy and puppies out of him

but i get sloppy and very greedy in attacking as the ai usually never parried blocked or combo they'd just take the hits and die

in the end i got so fed up as of why i was doing so terrible at a game i had played for almost 2 years

i quit because i realized i had to re-learn pvp in the game but this time with foes with equal time spent and equal skill only they probrably never played an ai match in their life

    it will not help you

it will only ruin your experience further

what did i learn from this?

hardwork spent is rewards well earned

  • @jollyolsteamed at least your entire response is good information rather than some of the responses on here. while i do think you are correct in that it wont help me, it would still be nice to be able to sail without having to deal with loot or players. but alas, a sailor can merely dream i suppose

if you are referring to the fact that i didnt immediately respond to comments, i will not apologize for being a tad busy here and there.

  • You will never get a safe version of the main world.

But, I think Maiden Voyage could be improved. Currently it's in the form of some pretty innocent tutorial, which for many players can cause a real shock when after launching the main game they realize they have just been thrown between wolves and are about to get............. (you all know your crimes).

Sorry. So used to pirate one posters who ask for something and don't respond to the feedback. Majority of the one post wonder posts are something along the lines of what you asked for.

alot of people would agree to having a private world where there are no rewards to be earned

be it to learn to sail or learn certain voyages or set up a fun event with friends

i would be okay with that but it wouldn't help with pvp

glad you understood not alot of new players and honestly alot of veterans too aren't willing to have a good debate

  • @jollyolsteamed everyone thinks disagreement is bad when really its good to learn from. you had a good point, and i couldnt argue it, so i didnt try. :p a private world would be really nice. i like the idea of doing a solo galleon in a private world just for the asthetics of sailing with big ship. but you cant do something that crazy in the normal world zone because that would be suicide, whether you wanted to get loot or not

thats understandable. i can imagine most people doing that lol.

maiden voyage definitely needs an entire redesign to actually show the players how to play moreso than it already does. but i think it would be tricky to do correctly.

  • @tardis1211 I'm impressed how you guys always come up with the same thing by using different expressions for it...PvE server, private mode, solo server...and now AI only mode...
Read the description of the game...something like this won't come, ever

  • @schwammlgott read what i actually am wanting here. i DONT want to bypass the core of the game. i am SUGGESTING solo mode that disables loot while you are using it. dont generalize me with people who cant handle pvp and want to run away and play solo so they dont have to deal with it. what im wanting has nothing to do with "im tired of losing my gold in a pirate game"

  • @tardis1211 sagte in AI only mode:

Oh...sorry, the forums just get floated with that "idea" again since it came on steam...and your threads title looked like another one, really sorry for that assumtion

But why wasting resources for servers like that, when you can learn them in the game itself? The only thing that comes from this will be even more outcry to get PvE server...

  • @schwammlgott you have a really good point that it will cause more outcry for a pve server. but ultimately i dont think a pve server, or this, will get made.

  • @schwammlgott the benefits i am thinking this would have is a way to get good B-roll for content creators, and a way to let people play a more "relaxed" and "stress free" server. a server where they dont need to worry about getting any loot and can just sail and admire the game. i dont think it would take too many resources to make, however its very unlikely that rare would want to do it XD

I guess, Rare already confirmed "private server" without any progress for content creators

  • @schwammlgott im not sure what you mean? can i see where they confirmed that?

As far as I remember Rare said it in a content update video last year...
    I only got a video from @Captain-Falcore

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P7dxstP9LZc

Need to look, if I can find the video from Rare

Edit: can't find it...maybe @Musicmee can help clear things out on this

  • @tardis1211 No ai only mode, that defeats the purpose of the whole game. Rare made the game to be a shared world not a single player game. If you want to get used to the game, use the xbox app to find a group who is experienced and can help you learn - that is how we had to do it back in the alpha (but with the insider app only).

again please read what im actually wanting with this. this is the second time someone has assumed im wanting a pve server for loot. what im actually wanting here is a ai only mode that does NOT have ANY loot AT ALL. there would be no BENEFIT to using this to actually play the game, it would instead be a mode for leisure.

  • @tardis1211 maybe edit the title a bit, i bet this won't be the last one, who assumed this

  • @tardis1211
Then what would be the point for this? To sail around and do what? You said there is nobody else in the game, so there is zero point. The sea is so big anyways so if people want to just hang out they can just keep an eye out for other ships, it really isn't that hard you just have to you know, put in some effort? Rare's narrative about this game has and will always remain that it is meant to be a shared world.

Maybe a better option would be to have the center outpost be a safe zone (sort of like the arena lobby, but the entire center island and surrounding waters for several yards, where you can hang out with other people, your ship takes zero damage, you could challenge people/accept duels and such so if you wanted to practice fighting it is not forced upon you, and picking up loot could would be disabled to prevent stealing. I get at what you are trying to say but by removing one of the purposes Rare even made the game (to have it as a unique shared world), it defeats the purpose of the game.

    please tell me how XD

well for starters, it would make for a great way to shoot machinema films for people who are in to that. yes it would be empty, however it would most likely allow for you to invite friends to the lobby. i'vc also heard rumors that a private realm similar to this is being worked on.
secondly, just like how sometimes i load up spiderman ps4 to relaxingly swing across new york, i sometimes wouldnt mind sailing an empty world for no reason. its sometimes stress relieving up until players show up.

  • @tardis1211

You're wrong. I just had a 5 hour session with my son.

First we did Heart of Fire first chapter (for the 2nd time) with a sloop, finished the chapter then turned in at Morrow's Peak.

After we left the outpost we got sunk by some toerags who snuck up behind us while we were stocking up on floaty barrels. Our fault for switching off.

We then get a galley because my other son and his mate want to join. We sail around for a bit having a laugh buzzing round islands fast in the galley then the friend has to leave.

We then decide to do a skelly fort that's flashing nearby and briefly debate whether to get a brig cos there's only 3 of us now but we decide we like the galley so keep it.

We do Crow's Nest Fortress uncontested and because it's Fort Night cash in nearly 250K at Ancient Spire Outpost..

    We got sunk by pirates..
    We cashed in loot..
    We had lots of fun..

Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse, but it's always fun!

  • @wagstr im not sure what you think im wrong about because nothing im saying is an opinion.
if there were a server like this, it would be possible to have an easier time filming for skits or b roll footage, thats just a fact
for two, it would be easier to just sail with no real purpose or reason, though i dont suspect many would do this i know i certainly would. it calms my anxiety some times, but knowing other players are around, and having been attacked despite having nothing, its not entirely the same.
