The update is free. And, if you go to the Microsoft website itself (don’t use the link in the article), you can’t find an “Anniversary Edition.” It may be an upcoming promotion that someone found a link to, or it’s completely false... (and so, stay away from it).

@bran-the-ent Yesterday you could find the anniversary edition in the Microsoft store. And the link in that article it's the Microsoft Store page. And the promotion is 100% true. Yesterday Major Nelson posted a tweet about it, but he deleted it apparently

The update is 100% free. The anniversary edition it's just a cheaper Sea of Thieves with a cosmetic set included for free.

@eggamer13 Ah, but I’m assuming that the Sea Dog pack isn’t the Black Sea Dog pack, but the one available in-game already?

Its likely just a rebranded version of the game, like so many "Ultimate" and "Deluxe" versions of other games that come out a year or two beyond the original release.

If you already own Sea of Thieves, you will get the update.

Im mostly wondering about the sea dog pack, if its new special cosmetics i feel kinda bnd if we as ling time pirates dont get it one way or the other

They released a 50% off deal last week. I purchased a second copy (had Xbox hard copy) so I could use on the PC. I am going to be livid if they release an exclusive sea dog pack immediately after
